# Brickken seeks Canton funding for a regulated-token standard

Brickken has [submitted a Canton Development Fund proposal](https://github.com/canton-foundation/canton-dev-fund/pull/881) for a regulated-token standard, seeking 5.85 million Canton Coin over 15 months. An adoption bonus could bring the maximum request to 6.3 million CC.

The project would give asset issuers a common way to decide who can send and receive their tokens, freeze specified holdings and authorize limited administrative transfers. Wallets and exchanges could then support the same controls across different issuers.

The [draft design](https://github.com/canton-foundation/canton-dev-fund/blob/aba634ac152d7316f27b29b5aa2b12a3c5bba3e0/proposals/2026-10-Brickken-regulated-token-standard.md) builds on Canton’s existing token standard, with issuers choosing whether to adopt the additional controls. A holder’s advance consent to administrative transfers would be recorded, with restrictions on their purpose, amount and duration.

The funding plan covers the standard’s specification, an open-source implementation, an independent security audit and developer tools. It also includes tests to check that different implementations follow the same rules.

Delivery targets include two clients testing different use cases on TestNet, followed by production deployment for both. By month 15, Brickken aims to have at least five deployments running on Canton MainNet and a named owner for ongoing maintenance.

Submitted on October 7, the proposal remains a [draft funding request](https://github.com/canton-foundation/canton-dev-fund/pull/881). It is seeking a champion to support it through the fund’s review process, with payments tied to acceptance of the planned milestones.
