# Canton reaches 908,000 transacting parties in The Tie’s data

Canton has reached 908,000 distinct parties that have made a transaction, up from 20,000 a year earlier in [The Tie’s latest data](https://x.com/TheTieIO/status/2105357986575286446).

That is more than 45 times the earlier count, an increase of about 888,000. The September 30 update tracks parties that have ever transacted, giving a cumulative measure of participation over the network’s history.

The distinction matters when reading the chart. A party is an identifier used on Canton, so this is a count of transacting parties rather than verified individual people. It also measures participation over time, rather than how many parties were active on a particular day.

On that basis, the figures show a substantial expansion in the set of parties with recorded transaction activity over the past year.
