_HackCanton results, new asset access and funding requests across the Canton ecosystem. Reporting through October 23, 2026 at 15:04 UTC._

Canborsa Lending has won HackCanton Season 3. Selay has added two BitSafe assets, Kora has opened another trading pair, and three new Development Fund proposals seek support for tools that would make Canton applications easier to build.

_This edition covers developments through October 23, 2026 at 15:04 UTC. The_ [_previous edition_](https://cantonnews.org/canton-roundup-new-funding-approvals-wallet-access-and-governance-votes) _was published October 22 at 19:18 UTC. “Carryover” identifies earlier announcements omitted from that edition._

## HackCanton names its Season 3 winners

**October 22 carryover.** Canborsa Lending took first place in the [organiser’s final results](https://x.com/appsfactory_cc/status/2113211480384438672), followed by Exodus and Tavryn. The announcement follows the October 21 Grand Final, which brought together [12 finalists](https://cantonnews.org/canton-roundup-ekiden-s-upgrade-deadline-wallet-checks-and-hackcanton-s-finalists).

- **Overall awards:** Canborsa Lending, $2,000; Exodus, $1,250; Tavryn, $750.
- **Track awards, $500 each:** Talang for Financial Applications, PledgeGuard for RWA & Business Workflows, Alluvren for Investment Infrastructure, and Plimsoll for Data & Analytics.
- [**BitSafe bounty**](https://x.com/appsfactory_cc/status/2113288769315205369)**:** Umbra, 30,000 CC; CompressRail, 12,000 CC; Indivisa, 6,000 CC; Canborsa Lending, 2,000 CC.
- [**Grofty wallet and onboarding bounty**](https://x.com/appsfactory_cc/status/2113334319540486202)**:** Talang, 5,000 CC; GroftPay, 3,000 CC; Collat.Trade, 2,000 CC.

The organiser also lists NODERS node-service and ambassador benefits for finalists. The listed monetary awards amount to $6,000 in cash and 60,000 CC, counted separately. Payment dates were not established.

Canborsa’s entry lets users borrow USDCx against CC or CBTC. Its [earlier lending release was on DevNet](https://cantonnews.org/canton-today-alpend-s-deadline-canborsa-lending-and-four-more-updates); the win does not itself establish a MainNet launch.

![HackCanton Season 3 announced awards: $4,000 overall podium plus $2,000 in track awards, and separately 50,000 CC from BitSafe plus 10,000 CC from Grofty. Awards announced; payment not verified.](https://pnyaxwohgkgczwuvbaqg.supabase.co/storage/v1/object/public/article-images/cantonnews/2026-10-24/8210546059114a27ae97ed030c6822b3fcb95562233c5dd6f95f45fc8b5200c5-roundup-hackcanton-awards.webp)

_Announced awards from_ [_AppsFactory’s October 22 results_](https://x.com/appsfactory_cc/status/2113211480384438672)_, including separate BitSafe and Grofty bounties. Cash and CC are shown separately; no exchange rate or payment date is assumed._

## More wallet support and another Kora market

**Selay adds CBTC and BETH.** BitSafe announced on October 23 that [both assets are live in Selay Wallet](https://x.com/BitSafe_Finance/status/2113619216527958443). Selay separately says it [will return 60% of Canton rewards on transfers of those assets](https://x.com/selay_wallet/status/2113624563645063276). This concerns transfer rewards, separate from the [previously announced Cantex swap-fee rebate](https://cantonnews.org/canton-roundup-modulo-s-rewards-change-edel-s-10-million-milestone-and-developer-updates). The statement does not say when payouts begin.

**Kora opens cETH/USDCx.** The [new pair went live on Kora V2 on October 23](https://x.com/Kora_Protocol/status/2113586717395673207), adding a USDCx market for cETH. It extends the venue’s [existing USDCx markets](https://cantonnews.org/kora-adds-usdcx-trading-pairs-for-gold-and-silver-on-canton). The [market page](https://kora.trade/spot/cETH-USDCx) provides the direct trading route.

## BitSafe expands its operator network and submits co-hosting evidence

**October 22 carryovers.** [SenseiNode has joined BitSafe’s Decentralization Manager operator network](https://x.com/SenseiNode/status/2113161175118622851). It expands the [framework released in public beta in July](https://cantonnews.org/bitsafe-launches-decentralization-manager-for-canton-network-backed-by-1-million-foundation-grant), which lets applications spread control across multiple hosts.

BitSafe also [submitted a Development Fund milestone](https://github.com/canton-foundation/canton-dev-fund/issues/837#issuecomment-6344034863) showing how an existing Canton party can gain co-hosts while keeping its identifier and contracts. A party is the identity an application or user acts through on Canton.

In an earlier DevNet test, an Umbra trade settled through BitSafe’s co-host while Umbra’s participant node was down. Umbra [confirmed the test publicly on October 23](https://github.com/canton-foundation/canton-dev-fund/issues/837#issuecomment-6362523369). The new development is the submission and confirmation of that evidence; fund acceptance and MainNet deployment remain separate steps.

## Three funding requests tackle different developer problems

The [Canton Development Fund](https://cantonnews.org/inside-canton-s-development-fund-as-13-proposals-go-to-a-vote) has received three proposals for reference applications, contract testing and reusable cryptographic tools. All remained unapproved at the cutoff.

**QuickStart: 12.95 million CC requested.** In an October 22 carryover, [Moonsong Labs and Digital Asset propose a 10.5-month upgrade](https://github.com/canton-foundation/canton-dev-fund/pull/926) of Canton’s reference application. The plan brings it onto current Splice and Token Standard V2, adds external wallet signing, updates the React and TypeScript stack, and packages it for Daml’s package manager. The final stage includes testing by at least 10 outside organisations. Work would begin after approval.

**BootNode: 960,000 CC requested.** Another October 22 carryover, [contracts-workbench](https://github.com/canton-foundation/canton-dev-fund/pull/927) would generate browser forms from a Daml package’s types, letting developers create contracts and perform their actions without writing each request by hand. It includes wallet signing and a reusable form SDK. Forty percent of the request is tied to adoption outside BootNode; the proposal still needs a champion.

**Tirai: 300,000 CC requested.** The [October 23 proposal](https://github.com/canton-foundation/canton-dev-fund/pull/928) sets out nine weeks of work on byte handling, cryptographic verification and proofs that data belongs to a larger record set. The proposed library would give other Daml applications reusable building blocks for processing external data. The applicant’s benchmark results have not been independently reproduced.

## Security updates and node maintenance

**October 22 carryover.** [Canton 3.6.4](https://github.com/digital-asset/canton/releases/tag/v3.6.4) updates its Docker base image to remove compromised eMudhra root certificates and refresh system dependencies. [Splice 0.9.4](https://docs.canton.network/global-synchronizer/release-notes/splice#0-9-4) incorporates Canton 3.6.4 and the certificate changes. The notices concern maintenance, not a reported Canton breach.

For Blockdaemon customers, the provider has scheduled its [DevNet upgrade to Splice 0.9.4 for October 28, 14:00–15:00 UTC](https://stspg.io/vzhrq7kn13nd), with up to 15 minutes of planned downtime per node.

Blockdaemon also recorded completion of its October 22 Splice 0.9.3 maintenance on [DevNet](https://stspg.io/3wylqskb51yz), [TestNet](https://stspg.io/pvztlmf8r6gd) and [MainNet](https://stspg.io/q6n34f4mblxm). Separately, an [operator notice initiated voting for another DevNet logical synchronizer upgrade](https://lists.sync.global/g/supervalidator-announce/message/629), planned for the following week to address an issue found during the previous upgrade. The provider’s maintenance completion does not establish network-level upgrade success.

## The Foundation outlines its Board framework

An [October 22 disclosure](https://canton.foundation/governance-built-to-grow-with-canton/) sets out changes ratified by the Canton Foundation Board in September: a maximum of 25 seats, representation across five stakeholder categories, four-year terms and staggered rotation. The structure will be reviewed at least every two years.

Premier partnership establishes eligibility to serve, rather than automatically granting a seat. Two new seats are due to be elected later in 2026, with category definitions, nomination details and the election timetable still to come. This concerns the Foundation’s Board, distinct from Super Validator consensus and on-chain voting.

## Société Générale’s reward amount submitted for approval

The [previously accepted tokenized-collateral milestone](https://cantonnews.org/soci-t-g-n-rale-clears-canton-tokenized-collateral-milestone) now has a calculated reward amount. Noves and IntellectEU have confirmed a value of [4,009,129.4504 CC](https://lists.sync.global/g/tokenomics-announce/message/397), submitted for Super Validator approval and distribution.

The split is 71% to the locking beneficiary and 29% to the unlocked beneficiary. Distribution remains subject to approval; this is not a new collateral transaction.

## Developer progress: scale, debugging and privacy

**Scalability evidence, an October 22 carryover.** Digital Asset reported [3,469,016 node counterparties in its test environment](https://github.com/canton-foundation/canton-dev-fund/issues/283#issuecomment-6346295903). This tests capacity, rather than counting live users; a separate milestone targets five million.

**Validator scalability, an October 22 carryover.** The fund’s [vote-closed record confirms acceptance of Digital Asset’s milestone](https://github.com/canton-foundation/canton-dev-fund/issues/561#issuecomment-6335146214). A [receipt posted October 23](https://github.com/canton-foundation/canton-dev-fund/issues/561#issuecomment-6365107794) documents a 410,000 CC mint finalized October 21, before this edition’s window.

**DPM Trace 0.1.4.** Walnut’s [October 23 review update](https://github.com/canton-foundation/canton-dev-fund/issues/823#issuecomment-6362093129) adds decoding of prepared transactions and comparison with the results committed to the ledger. It reveals differences within the transaction, clarifies failure searches by command ID and packages a sample Daml archive.

**Hacken’s privacy guide, an October 22 carryover.** The new [Daml auditing walkthrough](https://hacken.io/discover/auditing-daml-privacy-on-canton-network/) separates three questions: who is told about a contract, who sees it through a transaction, and who receives the data needed to use it. Its loan and identity-check example shows why splitting contracts is insufficient without reviewing the workflow and off-ledger data sharing. October 23’s forum post was a later promotion.

## Project updates

- **Canborsa referrals:** an [October 23 interface update](https://x.com/Canborsa_DEX/status/2113635410174005521) puts USDT fee earnings and referral points on one screen.
- **Ekiden access:** in an October 22 carryover, [CCTools says campaign participants who completed its tasks received MainNet access](https://x.com/cantontools/status/2113118094545629467). This is limited access distribution, separate from confirmation of Ekiden’s planned upgrade.
- **Unhedged:** the team previewed [FANDOM100](https://x.com/UnhedgedHQ/status/2113586416932270563), a coming-soon index of 100 PSA 10 cards: 33 trading-card-game cards and 67 sports cards, each weighted at 1%. It follows the [planned Binder50 index](https://cantonnews.org/canton-roundup-new-funding-approvals-wallet-access-and-governance-votes). A separate [Gacha Cards schedule](https://x.com/UnhedgedHQ/status/2113646893192397136) describes Sunday-to-Sunday, Monday-to-Wednesday and Wednesday-to-Saturday market windows.
- **Yapper and Maha Tip:** an October 22 carryover announces a [2,000 CC creator campaign](https://x.com/yapperagent/status/2113247980572856522). The top three receive 500, 300 and 200 CC, with another 1,000 CC shared across 25 randomly selected winners.
- **CantonVenues:** an October 22 carryover [reports Tradecraft had the best net CC/cETH quote at sizes of $10,000 and above in 160 of 161 hourly checks since October 15](https://x.com/CantonVenues/status/2113268577512079686). This compares historical quotes, rather than executed trades or future pricing.
- **Validator allocations:** an October 22 carryover [assigns new MainNet validator allocations](https://lists.sync.global/g/supervalidator-announce/message/631). The notice has 33 entries but 32 distinct organisation names because Meridiant appears twice. An allocation does not establish that a node has been deployed.
- **FTP Tech:** the Tech and Ops committee has [recommended the provider for the Foundation’s Node-as-a-Service website listing](https://lists.sync.global/g/tokenomics-announce/message/397). The notice records the recommendation, not a completed listing.

## Dates and reading for builders

The Foundation’s [Q3 developer survey](https://forum.canton.network/t/9347), announced October 22 and carried forward here, is open until October 28. Topics include documentation, Development Fund 2.0 and Developer Hub AI/MCP updates. No closing hour is specified.

An earlier calendar item is also approaching: [Hacken’s online Canton onboarding panel](https://luma.com/hacken-mwm4) takes place October 29 at 15:00 UTC, with 65 minutes scheduled including questions. Participants include IntellectEU/CatalyX, C7, Noves and Hacken. The event was first announced October 13 and promoted again October 22.

For further reading, Canton’s [October 22 Summit retrospective](https://www.canton.network/blog/canton-summit-2026-takeaways) draws lessons from September’s event, while HIFI’s [new agent-payment report](https://www.hifi.com/blog/the-execution-gap-what-it-takes-to-settle-an-ai-agent-s-payment) examines the gap between an AI agent deciding to pay and a payment being executed. CoinPost’s [October 23 interview with Progmat’s CEO](https://coinpost.jp/?p=744103) adds perspective on the economics of the [already announced Japanese government-bond tests](https://cantonnews.org/progmat-plans-canton-tests-for-tokenized-japanese-government-bonds).
