Five North has offered to sponsor Universal Burn, Pinnaccle has added cETH trading, and Canton Venues has published new checks on its price comparisons. Elsewhere, proposals address when builders must lock CC, how grants are reviewed and how private ledger information could be verified.

_This edition covers developments since the_ [_previous Canton today_](https://cantonnews.org/canton-today-trading-tools-a-rewards-proposal-and-new-community-access)_, published October 19 at 03:50 UTC, through 13:54 UTC. It also includes three October 18 updates not included in that edition, dated below._

## CC burn and builder requirements

### 1\. Five North offers to sponsor Universal Burn

Five North has [offered official sponsorship](https://cantonnews.org/canton-s-universal-burn-plan-moves-forward-as-five-north-sponsors-cip-0129) for Universal Burn. The proposal also entered Canton's official repository as [CIP-0129](https://github.com/canton-foundation/cips/blob/main/cip-0129/cip-0129.md) on October 19, retaining its status as proposed.

The [Universal Burn framework](https://cantonnews.org/canton-s-universal-burn-proposal-the-benefits-costs-and-open-questions) would extend CC fees and rewards to production activity on dedicated synchronizers, the infrastructure used for separate Canton workloads. Volume pricing and discounts for long-term commitments form part of the plan, with detailed parameters left to a second proposal.

Super Validators would still need to approve the framework before implementation. Adding the document to the repository does not turn on the new fee system.

### 2\. The Hub proposes review before the CC lock

[The Hub](https://cantonnews.org/projects/the-hub) has proposed letting Featured App applicants complete Tokenomics review before arranging their [required CC lock](https://cantonnews.org/canton-network-approves-cip-0116-introducing-cc-locking-requirements-for-featured-app-status). After a positive review, a team would have [30 days to put the lock in place](https://lists.sync.global/g/cip-discuss/message/894) before a governance vote.

The amount, duration and conditions would stay unchanged. An application would lapse if the deadline passed without a lock, and reapplying would require an explanation.

This would let builders learn whether their product passes review before committing capital. It remains a discussion proposal, not the application process currently in force.

![The Hub's proposed sequence: apply without the CC lock, receive a positive Tokenomics review, complete the lock within 30 days, then proceed to a governance vote. The required amount and duration would not change.](https://pnyaxwohgkgczwuvbaqg.supabase.co/storage/v1/object/public/article-images/cantonnews/2026-10-20/012dec092fcb8946310528c4019a77baea6dd8da080ff031167c7e9dda8bce02-roundup-roundup-lock.webp)_Proposed sequence, not an adopted rule. Based on_ [_The Hub’s October 19 proposal_](https://lists.sync.global/g/cip-discuss/message/894)_. The 30-day window would begin after a positive Tokenomics review._

### 3\. Digital Asset backs a separate locking proposal

Digital Asset is [ready to sponsor CIP-0127](https://lists.sync.global/g/cip-discuss/message/895), which sets out how Featured App and Super Validator locking requirements would be enforced on-chain.

This is a different question from The Hub's proposed review window. The Hub is asking when an applicant should lock CC; [CIP-0127](https://github.com/canton-foundation/cips/blob/main/cip-0127/cip-0127.md) describes the machinery for managing and checking locks, with staged delivery proposed.

After this edition’s scan cutoff, [CIP-0127 entered the proposal repository at 16:54 UTC on October 19](https://github.com/canton-foundation/cips/pull/250). Its status is Proposed; this does not mean approval or live enforcement.

## Trading and market information

### 4\. Pinnaccle adds cETH swaps and recurring purchases

onRails' cETH is [available on Pinnaccle](https://x.com/OnRailsFinance/status/2112148178535428204), where users can swap it at market or include it in recurring purchases. A user sets the budget and buying frequency, and the platform handles the scheduled orders.

This adds another way to buy the asset, which already has [trading support elsewhere on Canton](https://cantonnews.org/swap-monster-adds-ceth-trading-on-canton). Scheduled buying changes when orders are placed; it does not remove exposure to ETH price movements.

### 5\. Canton Venues checks its estimates against venue quotes

[Canton Venues' market dashboard](https://cantonnews.org/canton-venues-brings-seven-trading-venues-into-one-dashboard) now compares its estimates with quotes returned by Tradecraft, Cantex and OneSwap.

The developer's [October 19 update](https://github.com/canton-foundation/canton-dev-fund/pull/778#issuecomment-6267162315) reports that 15,772 of 15,816 checks, or 99.7%, were within 0.01% of the venue's answer. The first 96 hourly runs checked $100, $1,000 and $10,000 trades in both directions on CC pools holding at least $20,000.

The dashboard also uses network fees measured from venue quotes and filters out pools identified as no longer trading. The figures measure quote agreement, not completed trades or guaranteed execution prices. Pool Party is excluded because it does not publish a quote.

![Canton Venues reports 99.7% agreement within 0.01% across 15,816 quote checks. Tests covered $100, $1,000 and $10,000 in both directions on CC pools holding at least $20,000. These were quote comparisons, not completed trades.](https://pnyaxwohgkgczwuvbaqg.supabase.co/storage/v1/object/public/article-images/cantonnews/2026-10-20/ef1112ab362d5361893aa1e6243b6f3d6ea879436a49a8893dd2d9a0e52b1e56-roundup-roundup-quotes.webp)_Developer-reported quote checks, published October 19, 2026. ## Funding, settlement and community updates

### 6\. FTP requests an initial 660,000 CC for a grant-review assistant

FTP has submitted a [660,000 CC funding request](https://github.com/canton-foundation/canton-dev-fund/pull/912) for an open-source AI review assistant that would build submitted software, run tests and help reviewers check whether grant deliverables have been met.

The proposed budget sets aside 300,000 CC for development and up to 360,000 CC tied to qualifying reviewer use. Human reviewers would decide what to post; the tool would not decide funding or votes.

The proposal also suggests a separate maintenance grant of 250,000 CC per quarter after its adoption milestone, subject to committee review.

The request still needs a Champion and is not an approved grant. Its practical aim is to reduce repetitive testing within the [Development Fund's milestone-review process](https://cantonnews.org/inside-canton-s-development-fund-as-13-proposals-go-to-a-vote), while leaving responsibility with reviewers.

### 7\. The Hub seeks recognition for linked ticket settlement

In a separate [October 18 application](https://lists.sync.global/g/accountability/message/143), The Hub requested delivery-versus-payment recognition for creator-ticket purchases. The proposed structure would make the buyer's CC payment and ticket delivery complete together, or neither complete.

The application cites an October 10 MainNet test, but says production would move to this structure only after approval. The intended benefit is straightforward: a purchase should not leave someone having paid without receiving the ticket. The designation would also determine the network reward treatment of those settlements.

### 8\. OnePump puts numbers behind its waitlist campaign

OnePump's [October 18 campaign update](https://x.com/onepumpcc/status/2111853124377813367) lists a total of 7,834 waitlist entries and 22 legendary Citizen Cards drawn.

The [Citizen Cards campaign](https://cantonnews.org/onepump-s-citizen-cards-what-collectible-communities-could-bring-to-canton) uses personalised characters, daily activities and referrals to build an audience for its planned memecoin launchpad. The new figures measure campaign participation. They are project-reported counts, not a measure of funded trading activity or liquidity.

### 9\. BitSafe offers testing support for o1Labs

BitSafe CTO Jesse Eisenberg [offered engineering and testing support on October 18](https://github.com/canton-foundation/canton-dev-fund/pull/577#issuecomment-6248339407) for o1Labs' proposed verification tool. The idea is to let an outside party check a selected fact about Canton ledger data without seeing the whole ledger.

Eisenberg offered to help with the component that requires agreement from several independent nodes, and to test it with CBTC and other applications. BitSafe's [Decentralization Manager](https://cantonnews.org/bitsafe-launches-decentralization-manager-for-canton-network-backed-by-1-million-foundation-grant) already provides a framework for shared control across operators. The new offer is a possible use of that experience, not a completed integration or funding approval.
