> SoFi added Canton Coin, Marex and LSEG took up their Super Validator weight, Broadridge processed $7.5 trillion in repo on Canton, and a new proposal would make all of MainNet burn CC. Here is everything that moved on Canton from October 5 to October 11, one update at a time.

Canton Coin reached one of America’s best-known consumer finance apps last week, as SoFi added CC for its customers to buy, sell and hold. Behind the scenes, the network’s institutional machinery kept turning: Marex’s and LSEG’s Super Validator arrangements took effect, Broadridge reported $7.5 trillion in September repo on Canton, and a new proposal would make every production synchronizer on MainNet burn CC. Here is everything CantonNews covered from October 5 to October 11, with each update explained in one paragraph.

## The week at a glance

- **$7.5 trillion** in repo processed on Broadridge’s Canton-based platform in September, about $359 billion a day
- **55** is MPC-Holding-Inc’s Super Validator weight now that Marex’s and LSEG’s hosted arrangements are in effect
- **5.08 million CC** paid out by the Canton Development Fund across four milestones
- **$7 million** in 24-hour trading volume on Kora
- **25 million CC** locked by Nuxaris behind cBNB’s Featured App bid
- **18 new validator operators** approved, and 43 organisations allocated MainNet nodes

## Institutions: Wall Street, custody and Korea

**Canton Coin lands on SoFi and Bitkub.** SoFi [added Canton Coin to its crypto service](https://cantonnews.org/sofi-adds-canton-coin-to-its-crypto-app), so customers can now buy, sell and hold CC alongside SoFi’s other financial products. CC was one of 11 new assets that took SoFi Crypto to 40, and SoFi already has ties to Canton: it took part in Digital Asset’s $355 million funding round in June. In Thailand, Bitkub [opened a CC/THB market](https://cantonnews.org/bitkub-adds-canton-coin-trading-against-the-thai-baht), giving traders a local-currency pair instead of a dollar-stablecoin one.

**DTCC is due at the end of October.** DTCC’s Tokenization Service is due to launch at the end of October, according to Digital Asset CEO Yuval Rooz, with Canton as its public network. [Our explainer](https://cantonnews.org/dtcc-and-canton-network-everything-to-know-before-the-end-of-october-tokenization-launch) covers what launches, what July’s production trades proved and the five things to watch. The line-up keeps growing: Utila [joined DTCC’s tokenization working group](https://cantonnews.org/utila-joins-dtcc-s-tokenization-working-group), and Kaiko [joined the Canton Foundation’s Collateral Sub-Committee](https://cantonnews.org/kaiko-joins-canton-s-work-on-tokenized-collateral), which DTCC chairs, to help define how clearing houses can accept tokenized collateral.

**Broadridge processes $7.5 trillion in repo on Canton.** Broadridge’s Distributed Ledger Repo platform [processed $7.5 trillion in repo transactions in September](https://cantonnews.org/broadridge-s-canton-based-repo-platform-processes-7-5-trillion-in-september), an average of $359 billion a day. DLR, which moved onto Canton in 2023, handles intraday and cross-border repo and the collateral movements behind them, and now sits inside Broadridge’s wider DLX platform for tokenized markets. It remains one of the clearest measures of real institutional activity on the network.

![Monthly repo volume on Broadridge’s Canton-based DLR platform in 2026, about $7.2 trillion to $8 trillion a month](https://pnyaxwohgkgczwuvbaqg.supabase.co/storage/v1/object/public/article-images/articles/weekly-recap-2026-10-12-repo-1791828713747.png)

**Marex and LSEG take up their Super Validator weight.** Marex’s hosted Super Validator arrangement [took effect on MainNet](https://cantonnews.org/marex-s-canton-super-validator-arrangement-takes-effect-on-mainnet) on October 7, raising host operator MPC-Holding-Inc’s reward weight from 35 to 45. [LSEG’s implementation vote](https://cantonnews.org/lseg-s-canton-super-validator-plan-moves-to-an-implementation-vote) came next: when we checked the network’s governance state on October 12, MPCH’s weight stood at 55, the figure LSEG’s request called for. Rewards still accrue to an unclaimed pool and are released only as each firm proves it delivered its agreed milestones.

![MPC-Holding-Inc’s Super Validator weight: 35 of its own, plus 10 for Marex and 10 for LSEG, for a total of 55](https://pnyaxwohgkgczwuvbaqg.supabase.co/storage/v1/object/public/article-images/articles/weekly-recap-2026-10-12-weight-1791828713747.png)

**Ripple Custody and LG CNS open new routes for institutions.** [Ripple Custody 1.43](https://cantonnews.org/ripple-custody-1-43-adds-canton-coin-and-token-transfers) lets customers hold and transfer Canton Coin and CIP-56 tokens through its API, with signing keys kept in the custody vault and a validator run by the customer or its node provider. In Korea, LG CNS [launched KITL](https://cantonnews.org/lg-cns-launches-kitl-with-plans-for-korean-institutional-access-to-canton), a platform for banks, brokers and payment firms, alongside an MOU with the Canton Foundation to build the infrastructure Korean institutions would use to join Canton. No Korean bank has gone live through it yet.

**New tools for funds and issuers.** ANDRA [launched an ETF tokenization platform](https://cantonnews.org/andra-launches-etf-tokenization-infrastructure-on-canton) on Canton that keeps on-chain activity in step with a fund’s official transfer-agent records, and formed an industry working group, though no live tokenized ETF has been named. Moonsong Labs is [recruiting design partners for VaultKit](https://cantonnews.org/moonsong-labs-invites-institutions-to-help-shape-canton-vault-platform), software that lets institutions run vault-based investment products on their own Canton node, and CatalyX [updated its Tokenization Explorer](https://cantonnews.org/catalyx-updates-its-canton-focused-tokenization-explorer), which scores where tokenization could fit a business.

**The Francis Bacon offering opens, payable in CC.** Norvault [opened Bacon Series 001](https://cantonnews.org/norvault-opens-francis-bacon-linked-offering-on-canton) through CanTra, offering notes with indirect exposure to a company that owns Francis Bacon’s 1963 triptych _Three Studies for Portrait of George Dyer_. Eligible investors can pay €73.50 per note in euros or Canton Coin, and each note will be represented by a Canton token. Applications close on October 30, with issuance scheduled for November 5. Retail access is limited to Germany and Liechtenstein, and the notes carry significant risk.

## Network and governance

**MainNet’s CantonBFT upgrade is locked in.** The scheduling vote passed, and the switch to CantonBFT was written into the network’s rules for October 10 at 13:00 UTC, after a 24-hour freeze on configuration changes [that left normal transactions running](https://cantonnews.org/canton-outlines-its-october-10-mainnet-upgrade-timetable). Super Validator nodes now list sequencers for the new synchronizer, which runs on protocol version 35. The software kept moving too: [Splice 0.8.3 cleared MainNet](https://cantonnews.org/canton-advances-splice-upgrades-across-mainnet-and-testnet) and 0.8.4 cleared TestNet, while [Splice 0.9.0 reached DevNet](https://cantonnews.org/splice-0-9-0-reaches-canton-s-devnet) on Canton 3.6.1.

**A proposal to make all of MainNet burn CC.** A [new draft](https://cantonnews.org/canton-proposal-would-extend-cc-burn-across-mainnet) by Yiannis Varelas and Shaul Kfir would require every synchronizer handling production traffic on MainNet, including dedicated ones that currently pay licence fees to Digital Asset, to pay by burning Canton Coin. Apps and validators on those synchronizers would join the same reward system, and high-volume operators could earn discounts by backing a year of committed traffic with CC collateral. The estimated rollout is universal burn in Q1 2027 and discounts in Q3, subject to approval.

**Validators: 18 approvals, 43 allocations and a path to self-service.** Canton [approved 18 validator operators](https://cantonnews.org/canton-approves-18-more-validator-operators), including elebank, which plans tokenized deposits, Enflux and Greywick Digital, the team behind cLTC. A separate notice [allocated MainNet nodes to 43 organisations](https://cantonnews.org/canton-awards-mainnet-allocations-to-43-named-organisations), including Kaleido and OmniStake, and renewable-energy finance platform HestiaX [now runs a MainNet validator](https://cantonnews.org/hestiax-operates-a-canton-mainnet-validator). A [draft proposal](https://cantonnews.org/canton-draft-proposes-self-service-validator-onboarding) would replace manual onboarding with self-service access triggered by buying 10 MB of traffic, after security hardening and staged testing.

**New drafts for locked CC, delegated votes and token standards.** An update to CIP-0127 would let [locked CC change owner without being unlocked](https://cantonnews.org/canton-proposal-adds-a-way-to-transfer-locked-cc), so a Featured App or Super Validator can switch custodian while its commitment stays in place. Digital Asset asked for 1 million CC to build [a voting app for Super Validator delegates](https://cantonnews.org/digital-asset-proposes-a-voting-app-for-canton-super-validator-delegates). Fairmint proposed [a common NFT format](https://cantonnews.org/fairmint-proposes-a-common-nft-format-for-canton), starting with equity certificates, and PixelPlex an [Open Token Standard](https://cantonnews.org/pixelplex-proposes-a-simpler-way-to-add-canton-tokens-to-apps) to make it easier for wallets to add new tokens.

**Featured App queue: cBNB, CHYPE and a 25 million CC lock.** Nuxaris [locked 25 million CC through Cashen](https://cantonnews.org/nuxaris-locks-25-million-cc-as-cbnb-seeks-featured-app-status) and applied for Featured App status for cBNB, with OneSwap, Cantex, Cancore and Tradecraft lined up as venues. BitSafe [applied for CHYPE](https://cantonnews.org/bitsafe-seeks-canton-featured-app-status-for-hype-backed-chype), a HYPE-backed asset targeting a November 10 launch with Temple, while [Meriq](https://cantonnews.org/meriq-seeks-featured-app-status-for-its-canton-swap-venue) and [ForecastDesk](https://cantonnews.org/forecastdesk-seeks-canton-featured-app-status-for-prediction-markets) applied for their swap venue and prediction market. Maha Wallet [partnered with Cashen](https://cantonnews.org/maha-wallet-partners-with-cashen-for-a-5-million-cc-lock) to cover its 5 million CC lock, and [Nocturnal Wallet’s on-chain vote](https://cantonnews.org/nocturnal-wallet-enters-canton-featured-app-vote) closes on October 13.

**The Development Fund pays out 5.08 million CC.** The fund [paid 5,081,500 CC across four milestones](https://cantonnews.org/canton-development-fund-pays-5-08-million-cc-across-four-milestones), led by 4 million CC to Digital Asset for its Splice Portfolio reference wallet, and [approved 1.2 million CC for BitDynamics](https://cantonnews.org/canton-development-fund-approves-1-2-million-cc-for-bitdynamics) to improve Splice. New requests piled up: DIA wants up to [8.4 million CC for multi-source price checks](https://cantonnews.org/dia-seeks-funding-for-multi-source-price-checks-on-canton), Brickken [5.85 million CC for a regulated-token standard](https://cantonnews.org/brickken-seeks-canton-funding-for-a-regulated-token-standard), Logical Contracts [1.3 million CC to convert Ethereum contracts into Daml](https://cantonnews.org/logical-contracts-seeks-funding-to-help-ethereum-apps-move-to-canton), and BootNode [702,000 CC for a shared testing toolkit](https://cantonnews.org/bootnode-seeks-funding-for-a-shared-canton-app-testing-toolkit). All four remain under review.

![Canton Development Fund in the week of October 5: 5.08 million CC paid, 1.2 million approved, 17.3 million requested](https://pnyaxwohgkgczwuvbaqg.supabase.co/storage/v1/object/public/article-images/articles/weekly-recap-2026-10-12-devfund-1791828713747.png)

## Builders and AI

**AI assistants get Canton wallets.** FTP Tech launched [hosted Canton wallets](https://cantonnews.org/ftp-tech-launches-hosted-canton-wallets-for-ai-assistants) that let ChatGPT, Claude and Perplexity make payments, transfer CC and swap tokens, capped at 5 CC per payment and 20 CC a day; FTP holds the keys. Unhedged now lets Claude, Cursor and Codex [research markets and place trades](https://cantonnews.org/unhedged-adds-trading-through-ai-assistants) within permissions the user sets. IntellectEU released a [benchmark for AI-written Daml tests](https://cantonnews.org/intellecteu-releases-ai-test-benchmark-for-canton-developers), in which the baseline agent caught 151 of 159 deliberately planted faults.

**Hackathon winners and better starting points for builders.** Cantor8 [named its hackathon winners](https://cantonnews.org/cantor8-names-winners-of-its-august-canton-hackathon), with Team Mandate’s controlled spending for AI agents taking first place ahead of Lattice Scan, Vorem and DamnLE. BootNode published [dAppBooster demos and setup guides](https://cantonnews.org/canton-s-developer-update-adds-dappbooster-demos-and-setup-guides), including a Canton Coin vesting example, and CCTools [expanded its portfolio tracker](https://cantonnews.org/cctools-expands-portfolio-tracking-with-nfts-and-defi-positions) with value history, NFTs and DeFi positions. HackCanton Season 3 entries were due on October 9, and judging runs until October 18.

## Markets and trading

**Nvidia and SpaceX tokens arrive on Cantex.** Cantex [opened trading in NVDAe and SPCXe](https://cantonnews.org/cantex-adds-edel-tokens-linked-to-nvidia-and-spacex), Edel-issued tokens linked to Nvidia and SpaceX, extending Edel’s line-up beyond its S&P 500 and Nasdaq-100 tokens. Like SPYe and QQQe, they provide economic exposure rather than share ownership, and they trade outside regular US market hours. Cantex access still requires an invitation code.

**Kora tops $7 million in a day, and Tradecraft passes $3.5 million TVL.** Kora’s [24-hour trading volume passed $7 million](https://cantonnews.org/kora-tops-7-million-in-24-hour-trading-volume) on October 5, following its September listings of CC, gold and silver against USDCx. Tradecraft’s [total value locked passed $3.5 million](https://cantonnews.org/tradecraft-passes-3-5-million-in-total-value-locked-on-canton), up from $3 million in early September. To compare venues, the new [Canton Venues dashboard](https://cantonnews.org/canton-venues-brings-seven-trading-venues-into-one-dashboard) puts prices, liquidity and estimated trade costs from Temple, Cantex, Tradecraft, Rocky, OneSwap, Pool Party and Ekiden into one free, read-only view.

**BNB arrives as cBNB, and cSOL spreads.** Nuxaris [added BNB Chain support](https://cantonnews.org/nuxaris-launches-bnb-bridging-and-cbnb-swaps-on-canton), with ten new bridge routes that bring BNB onto Canton as cBNB and let users swap it for CC. It now connects six networks through 30 routes, and a Nethermind audit of its bridge contracts [found no critical, high or medium issues](https://cantonnews.org/canton-s-ecosystem-update-new-markets-lending-and-ai-wallets). Modulo [added cSOL](https://cantonnews.org/modulo-adds-csol-buying-selling-and-holding), which users can now buy, sell and hold from their wallets.

**Rocky previews a dark pool.** Rocky [outlined a dark pool](https://cantonnews.org/rocky-previews-a-dark-pool-for-large-trades-on-canton) for institutions and large traders, executing hidden orders at the public-market midpoint with settlement on Canton, to cut information leakage and slippage. It is not open yet, and Rocky has asked users not to trade through it until it launches.

**Lending, savings and rewards.** Kintsu [opened its private beta](https://cantonnews.org/kintsu-opens-its-private-beta-on-canton) to early borrowers, lenders and vault managers, currently running on testnet. Canborsa [launched Savings Season 1](https://cantonnews.org/canborsa-launches-savings-season-1-for-stablecoin-deposits) for USDT, USDC and USDCx, advertising up to 20% APR including a one-month boost, with a $300,000 cap. Unhedged’s [October XP season](https://cantonnews.org/unhedged-launches-october-xp-rewards-with-up-to-3-000-per-user) pays up to $3,000 across ten levels, and Cancore’s [Genesis Points program passed 50,000 users](https://cantonnews.org/cancore-s-genesis-points-program-passes-50-000-users).

**Heads-up: there is no Zenith token.** After its EVM testnet launch, Zenith [warned of fake token listings, links and faucets](https://cantonnews.org/zenith-warns-of-fake-token-listings-and-scam-testnet-links). ZTH is a test-only token with no monetary value, and Zenith has warned against any message asking users to connect a wallet, send funds or claim tokens through links outside its official list. Zenith is targeting November to bring its EVM environment to Canton’s Global Synchronizer.

## What to watch this week

- **October 13:** Nocturnal Wallet’s Featured App vote closes at 08:42 UTC
- **October 18:** HackCanton Season 3 judging ends, with finalists on October 19 and the Grand Final on October 21
- **October 23:** deadline for Art Share 002 shareholders’ tender instructions in the Norvault offering
- **October 30:** applications close for Norvault’s Bacon Series 001
- **End of October:** DTCC Tokenization Service launch, according to Yuval Rooz
- **November:** Unhedged’s XP season ends on November 1, BitSafe targets November 10 for CHYPE, and Zenith targets its Global Synchronizer deployment

Last week showed Canton widening at both ends. A US consumer app now offers CC to retail customers, while banks, exchanges and custodians keep moving the network’s institutional plumbing into production. With DTCC’s launch weeks away, the next stretch could be the busiest yet.
