Cantor8 has announced a new route for merchants using Taran App: tokenized mobile money can be exchanged directly for gold, silver and Treasury-bill products on Canton.

The [August 13 announcement](https://x.com/cantor8/status/2087806620633882738) describes a C8 Wallet-powered route that uses atomic settlement. The payment-side token and the selected asset are designed to settle together in one coordinated exchange.

The announcement identifies the assets as gold, silver and T-bills via Ember Protocol, all native to Canton. It connects tokenized mobile money with those asset categories through C8 Wallet.

The update builds on Cantor8’s earlier work with Taran App and Yiksi. In its [May announcement](https://www.cantor8.io/official-blog/banking-africa-cantor8-moves-deeper-into-africas-mobile-money-sector-via-yiksi-limited), Cantor8 outlined a pilot initiative to bring mobile-money systems onchain through Canton.

The announcement describes a merchant use case for the route: tokenized mobile money can be exchanged for a choice of tokenized assets through C8 Wallet.
