# Fairmint seeks 3.5 million CC for a Privy toolkit on Canton

Fairmint has [requested 3.5 million Canton Coin](https://github.com/canton-foundation/canton-dev-fund/pull/813) from Canton's Development Fund to build a toolkit for apps that already use Privy for login and built-in wallets. The application was filed on September 20 and is awaiting approval.

The planned software would let those apps authorize Canton transactions using keys held through Privy, while keeping users' private keys out of the app developer's hands. It would support both approvals made in a browser and automated actions that follow an application's signing rules.

The [submitted plan](https://github.com/canton-foundation/canton-dev-fund/blob/5097d1100fc6d8931908fce4aa886858aa0fea79/proposals/2026-09-Fairmint-canton-privy-sdk.md) sets out a public software development kit, or SDK, and a working demonstration on Canton's development network. The demonstration would show how to set up an account, receive CC and send it to another account. Published transaction references would let an outside reviewer check the results.

Fairmint would also submit a Privy signing component for Canton's Wallet Gateway, which connects wallets and applications to the network. A separate test would check whether an external developer could complete an integration using the documentation alone. The build phase is planned for four months.

Of the total request, 1.5 million CC would fund two development milestones. Up to 2 million CC would be reserved for independent MainNet adoption and maintenance, with payments tied to verified integrations by other teams. At least two integrations would be needed to complete that stage, followed by a year of maintenance.
