# LSEG Super Validator proposal moves to a formal Canton vote

London Stock Exchange Group’s proposal to join Canton’s Super Validator program has [moved to a formal vote](https://lists.sync.global/g/cip-vote/message/802). Voting opened on September 21, with the Canton Foundation sponsoring the proposal and Five North endorsing it.

[Super Validators help operate and govern the Global Synchronizer](https://www.canton.network/blog/canton-network-primer-8-terms), the shared infrastructure that allows Canton applications to transact with one another. They vote on network changes and help coordinate transactions while keeping participants’ private financial information protected.

The [LSEG proposal, CIP-0124](https://github.com/canton-foundation/cips/blob/main/cip-0124/cip-0124.md), would let the group earn reward weight of up to 10. That weight determines its potential share of Super Validator rewards, with access tied to completed milestones.

LSEG’s commitments and deadlines have been agreed privately with Canton’s Tokenomics and Super Validator Accountability Committees. They would be disclosed when LSEG and the Foundation consider it appropriate. The public proposal points to LSEG’s experience in capital markets, post-trade services and payments, while leaving individual projects confidential.

LSEG would initially use a representative Super Validator run by an approved provider and cover its operating costs. Rewards would be held in escrow and released after completed work is verified and the necessary network approvals are obtained.

The formal vote follows a public discussion that began on September 8.
