# Mystic Finance proposes a shared vault standard for Canton

Mystic Finance has [proposed a shared vault standard for Canton](https://github.com/canton-foundation/canton-dev-fund/pull/863), aiming to make it easier for financial applications to work together. The September 28 Development Fund submission is awaiting review.

A vault holds assets for a financial product, with shares representing each user's stake. The proposal would establish common ways to deposit assets, calculate those shares and withdraw funds. Wallets and other applications could then support compatible vaults without a separate integration for each product.

The work would include open-source software, documentation and tests that builders could use to check their own vaults. It would build on Canton's existing token standards and accommodate both immediate transactions and requests that need to wait for processing.

The funding request allocates 1 million CC to development and up to another 1 million CC to verified adoption. A separate, conditional 800,000 CC is requested for external audits if the Foundation cannot conduct the audit itself.

Mystic would also maintain the software for at least 12 months after the second development milestone, funded from its operations. Funding remains subject to review, and adopting the standard would require approval of a separate Canton Improvement Proposal.
