# Paxos wins Canton approval for stablecoin and treasury plan

Paxos has [won approval for Canton Super Validator participation](https://lists.sync.global/g/cip-announce/message/97) under a plan tied to stablecoin issuance and treasury management. The network’s Super Validator operators approved CIP-0125 on September 22 with 12 votes in favor and one non-vote.

The [approved milestones](https://github.com/canton-foundation/cips/blob/main/cip-0125/cip-0125.md) give Paxos the opportunity to earn a maximum reward weight of eight. The first requires integration of its stablecoin issuance platform and an aggregate $20 million of major Paxos-issued stablecoins minted natively on Canton within six months of approval.

A nine-month milestone calls for an initial production service to manage stablecoin reserves on the network. The service could use eligible assets such as tokenized U.S. Treasuries or digital bank deposits.

Within 12 months, Paxos is to enable automated minting and redemption around the clock for approved participants. They would be able to create or redeem stablecoins using eligible deposits or assets settled on Canton. These deadlines all run from the proposal’s approval.

Further reward weight depends on adoption over the first 24 months, measured through qualifying stablecoin issuance and reserves held on the network. Adoption-related rewards also require activity to be sustained.

Paxos will cover the operating costs of its Super Validator arrangement. Rewards would be held in the network’s unclaimed rewards pool, with milestone completion checked before the corresponding reward weight is assigned.
