# Temple Opens Bitcoin and Gold Trading Pair on Canton

Temple has opened a [Bitcoin and gold trading pair on Canton](https://x.com/temple_ny/status/2097312674421846099), connecting BitSafe’s CBTC with Ember Protocol’s eXAU.

Introduced on September 8, the market is listed as CBTC/eXAU on [Temple’s trading platform](https://templedigitalgroup.com/markets). Bitcoin is priced in gold tokens, giving traders a direct market between the two assets.

Both tokens were already available on Temple against USDCx. The new pair adds another way to trade them, alongside those existing dollar-based markets.

Ember’s eXAU represents one troy ounce of allocated gold held in professional vault custody. Temple introduced the token alongside Ember’s silver token, eXAG, when it opened its [gold and silver spot markets in July](https://templedigitalgroup.com/news/temple-digital-group-and-ember-protocol-partner-to-bring-commodity-markets-to-canton-starting-with-gold-and-silver).

[CBTC brings Bitcoin into Canton applications](https://docs.bitsafe.finance/cbtc). It supports transfers between authorized Canton parties, with Bitcoin deposits and redemptions connecting the token to the Bitcoin network.
