# Tradecraft seeks DvP status after updating trade settlement

Tradecraft has [applied for delivery-versus-payment, or DvP, venue status](https://lists.sync.global/g/accountability/message/135) on Canton after changing how its exchange settles trades. The September 22 submission asks the Accountability Committee to review its trading system under rules approved in August.

[Tradecraft lets users swap tokens](https://docs.tradecraft.fi/fees-and-pricing) against pools funded by liquidity providers. DvP links the delivery of an asset to its payment. When settlement is atomic, both sides of the trade complete together in one transaction or neither completes.

All trade orders now use this settlement process. Keeping both sides in the same transaction makes them easier to match and check through external tools. The system also enforces the trade limits selected by users when an order executes.

Wallet users can start a trade by sending a token transfer offer to a pool’s designated address. These orders follow the same settlement process, allowing wallets without a direct Tradecraft integration to use the exchange.

Liquidity operations, such as adding funds to pools, still use trading balances held within the protocol. A separate change to those operations is planned for Tradecraft’s next major release.

The application requests formal recognition of the trading system as a DvP venue. That designation remains subject to the committee’s review.
