Utila has published a [new guide to blockchain privacy](https://utila.io/blog/blockchain-privacy-for-banks), examining how banks can use shared infrastructure without exposing sensitive financial information.

Published on September 14, the guide features Canton alongside Aleo and Zama, covering digital payments, treasury services and tokenized assets.

On a fully transparent blockchain, transaction records can reveal more than a payment amount. They can expose account balances, business relationships and trading positions. Banks need to keep that information confidential while giving authorized parties the access they need.

Canton approaches this by limiting visibility to the relevant parts of a transaction. In an [asset-purchase example](https://www.canton.network/blog/how-canton-network-delivers-institutional-grade-privacy), the bank handling payment sees the cash movement, while the firm recording ownership sees the asset transfer. The buyer and seller can see both sides.

That approach lets financial firms share infrastructure without making every transaction detail available to everyone using it.

Utila already supports Canton on its institutional wallet platform. Its [integration, announced in December 2025](https://utila.io/blog/utila-integrates-canton-network), allows customers to hold, send and receive Canton assets, with permissions and approval rules governing who can act on the accounts.

Teams can also automate transfers through Utila’s software interface and manage Canton assets alongside holdings on other supported networks.
