What happens if a synchronizer fails on Canton? The Logical Synchronizer architecture includes a roll-forward recovery mechanism. If the current physical synchronizer becomes permanently unavailable, Super Validators can spin up a replacement and migrate traffic automatically. If no transactions were processed on the failed synchronizer, the replacement takes over cleanly. If some transactions were processed, both instances stay running while a third synchronizer is deployed as the new successor.
