One of the biggest questions surrounding Canton Network has been whether institutional activity would translate into meaningful demand for Canton Coin ($CC). On October 21, 2026, its Super Validators approved a proposal designed to address exactly that question.
Digital Asset cofounder and CEO Yuval Rooz confirmed the passage of CIP-0129, known as Universal Burn and Synchronizer Pricing. The decision is significant because Canton currently has two ways of charging for network activity.
First, transactions processed through the shared Global Synchronizer already consume CC through network fees. Those coins are permanently destroyed, while eligible applications and validators receive rewards for supporting activity.
Second, financial institutions can operate dedicated synchronizers, specialized environments built around their operational and privacy requirements. Historically, operators paid Digital Asset licensing fees instead of burning CC. As a result, activity on those systems did not participate in the same token economy.
Under the approved framework, every production synchronizer will eventually pay for network traffic by burning $CCat the Global Synchronizer’s published list price, subject to applicable discounts. Dedicated infrastructure can remain separate, but the economic treatment becomes consistent across Canton MainNet. Applications and validators operating there will also become eligible for network rewards.
The rollout matters as much as the approval. Universal burns are targeted for the first quarter of 2027, with temporary discounts evaluated individually. A second proposal is expected to establish volume pricing and longer commitments backed by CC collateral, potentially arriving in the third quarter.
For investors holding $CC, Canton’s latest decision represents a significant turning point. Institutional adoption could now translate into greater demand for its native token as increased network activity generates additional burns, while long-term collateral commitments could further reduce available supply. For Canton, the implications extend beyond tokenomics. Its expanding institutional ecosystem will become more closely tied to CC’s economic value, strengthening the link between adoption and utility. The Canton Foundation will have an X space on October 26, 2026, as they go into detail about the CIP-0129 approval and what to expect for Canton’s universal burn.
As implementation approaches in 2027, the real question is no longer how many institutions join Canton, but how much value their activity will bring to the token powering its financial infrastructure. The burn is coming!
Canton and DTCC: Wall Street’s Blockchain Revolution Is Taking Shape.
Wall Street’s move onto Canton Network is becoming easier to measure. On July 1, 2026, a tokenized U.S. Treasury traded against USDCx, demonstrating how securities and digital dollars can exchange onchain. Two weeks later, DTCC completed live production transactions involving more than 30 financial firms, moving the conversation beyond experiments.
By the third quarter, Canton reported over $155 million in network fees across its ecosystem, though DTCC alone did not generate those charges. October brought another milestone: Meritz Securities signed an agreement to support expansion into South Korea.
Attention now turns to DTCC’s planned late-October Tokenization Service launch. An initial selection of 25 stocks, ETFs, and Treasury securities will be eligible, with Canton serving as the public blockchain alongside a private network.
Approximately $30 trillion in DTC assets could eventually qualify for tokenization, but those holdings are not already onchain. For $CC investors, the opportunity depends on whether institutional adoption drives sustained network activity and meaningful token demand.
Canton Coin Is Becoming More Than Just an Investment.
As Canton continues attracting institutional attention, another development is taking shape within its ecosystem. Canton Coin $CC is gaining financial utility, giving investors new opportunities to put their holdings to work rather than simply waiting for price appreciation.
Through Alpend, eligible holders can lend their CC and potentially earn interest. OneSwap adds another opportunity, letting investors provide liquidity by pairing $CC with USDCx and collecting a share of trading fees. Meanwhile, Canborsa expands possibilities by letting traders use $CC as collateral for leveraged positions, including long and short trades.
Each platform introduces different opportunities and financial risks, but the broader implications for Canton are becoming increasingly interesting.
Canton Coin is evolving into an asset with real financial utility, where network growth and increasing adoption could strengthen its long-term value. For investors, the ability to lend $CC, earn potential returns, and participate in decentralized finance opens new opportunities beyond simply holding the token. More importantly, these developments expand Canton’s financial ecosystem, creating additional demand and giving $CC a greater role in the network’s future.
Temple RFQ Puts Wall Street’s Capital to Work on Canton.
On Wall Street, buying a Treasury is only part of the job. The next question is what to do with it when you need cash elsewhere. Traditionally, answering that question means moving between trading desks, lenders, and settlement systems.
Temple Digital Group wants to shorten that journey. Its Temple RFQ platform brings cash management, fixed income trading, and repo financing together on the Canton Network. An institution can seek competing quotes to buy tokenized Treasuries, then use those securities as collateral to obtain cash without selling them. Canton lets the securities and payment settle together while keeping sensitive information private and moving assets from the institution’s wallet.
Temple’s cash service is live, and its fixed income and repo offerings are being introduced as counterparties join. A completed repo transaction on Canton has already demonstrated how tokenized Treasuries can secure financing through blockchain settlement.
For $CC holders, more institutional workflows could mean more network activity and fee burns. The story is shifting from tokenizing Wall Street’s assets to making them useful. The Canton Network is just getting started; next stop: the world!
