How does swapping on CantonNews work?

You pick a pair and an amount, and we create a swap with OneSwap. You then send that exact amount from your own Canton wallet to the one-time deposit party we show you. OneSwap detects the deposit, executes the swap atomically against the pool, and returns the output to the same wallet that sent the funds.

Do I need to connect a wallet?

Accepted Answer

No. There is nothing to connect and nothing to sign. A swap is a plain token transfer from your wallet to the deposit party we generate. Because the output is always returned to the sending wallet, you never enter a destination address.

What are the fees?

Each pool charges a 0.3% swap fee, split between liquidity providers and the platform. On top of that Canton charges a network fee — a flat amount taken from the token you are paying with, which does not scale down with your order and is capped at 50% of your input. Because it is flat, it dominates small swaps and barely registers on large ones. The exact amount moves over time, so the quote always shows the live figure and the percentage it represents before you commit.

Which pairs can I trade?

Every OneSwap pool is paired against Canton Coin (CC), and there is no multi-hop routing. That means you can swap CC into any listed token and any listed token back into CC. To go from one non-CC token to another, do it as two swaps through CC.

Question 5

What if I send the wrong amount?

Accepted Answer

The deposit must land within 1% of the amount you were quoted. Anything outside that tolerance is refunded to the sending wallet. If nothing arrives before the 60-minute deadline the swap simply expires.

Does CantonNews hold my funds?

Accepted Answer

No. CantonNews never takes custody. Funds go directly from your wallet to OneSwap’s settlement party and the output comes straight back to you. We only create the swap and show you its status.
