Cayvox Labs Introduces Payvol, an Open-Source Payment Infrastructure for Canton Network

Cayvox Labs introduces Payvol, an open-source programmable payment infrastructure for Canton Network. Payvol connects payment requests, onchain settlement verification, and invoice reconciliation in a unified workflow, helping developers and financial institutions build complete payment experiences without starting from scratch.

Payvol brings payment requests, onchain settlement verification, and invoice reconciliation into a unified workflow, providing modular payment infrastructure for developers and financial applications on Canton Network.

Cayvox Labs has introduced Payvol, an open-source payment infrastructure designed to connect the entire payment lifecycle on Canton Network, from creating a payment request to verifying settlement and reconciling the transaction with its original invoice.

While blockchain networks enable asset transfers and transaction settlement, the payment process does not end there for businesses. Identifying which payment belongs to which invoice, confirming that the correct amount reached the intended recipient, and updating financial records remain essential operational tasks.

Payvol addresses these challenges by connecting payment requests, settlement verification, and reconciliation within a unified workflow.

From Payment Requests to Reconciliation

Payvol enables businesses and applications to create structured payment requests that can be shared through QR codes, payment links, or NFC.

Each request contains the information needed to identify and verify a transaction, including the recipient, amount, payment instrument, and reference details.

Once a payment is authorized through the payer's wallet, settlement can be observed directly through the recipient's Canton participant node. Payvol then compares the completed transaction against the original payment request, checking conditions such as amount, timing, payment instrument, recipient, and predefined policies.

This approach makes it possible to verify not only whether a payment has been completed, but also whether it meets the conditions originally specified.

For invoice payments, merchant transactions, treasury operations, and automated financial workflows, Payvol aims to reduce the manual tracking and matching processes that typically follow settlement.

Open-Source, Modular Infrastructure Built for Integration

Rather than operating as another wallet or custodial payment service, Payvol is being developed as an open-source infrastructure layer that can be integrated into existing financial applications.

Its architecture consists of six core components: Request, Verify, Route, Observe, Reconcile, and Connect.

Together, these components cover different stages of the payment lifecycle, including payment request creation, transaction verification, payment routing, onchain transaction monitoring, and reconciliation.

Five components are already available to developers through npm packages, while Connect, a module designed to link payment workflows with existing financial systems, remains under development.

Payvol is designed to work alongside Canton's existing token and settlement infrastructure. It does not custody user funds or replace the underlying settlement mechanism. Payments remain authorized through the payer's own wallet.

The project also provides an open payment request format, SDKs, and conformance testing tools, making it easier for developers to integrate payment functionality into their applications.

Expanding Canton's Financial Infrastructure

As Canton Network's ecosystem of tokenization platforms, digital assets, wallets, and institutional financial applications continues to develop, the operational infrastructure surrounding settlement becomes increasingly important.

Moving an asset onchain is only one part of a payment. Identifying the transaction it belongs to, verifying its details, and making the result usable within existing financial systems requires an additional layer of infrastructure.

Payvol focuses on this layer, providing reusable components for payment providers, fintech applications, businesses, treasury management systems, and other financial services built on Canton.

The goal is to make payment operations easier to integrate into existing financial workflows, without requiring every application to build its own request, verification, and reconciliation infrastructure.

From the Team Behind PartyLayer

Payvol is developed by Cayvox Labs, the team behind PartyLayer, an open-source, CIP-0103-compliant wallet connectivity infrastructure that enables Canton applications to integrate with multiple wallets through a common interface.

With PartyLayer simplifying how applications connect to wallets, Payvol extends our work into programmable payments, settlement verification, and financial reconciliation.

Both projects are part of a broader effort at Cayvox Labs to develop open-source, reusable infrastructure for Canton Network.

Our focus is on the technical components that financial applications need but should not have to build independently, from wallet connectivity to payment processing and reconciliation.

With Payvol, we aim to make it easier for developers, payment providers, and financial institutions to build complete payment experiences on Canton while maintaining control over their own infrastructure and integrations.
