Digital Asset has released Canton 3.5.16, bringing a focused set of maintenance fixes and operational improvements.

The official release notes include additional checks for request timestamps while confirmation responses are processed.

Several fixes focus on CantonBFT, one of the systems used to keep network activity in order. They remove misleading network logs, correct an incorrect connection label and improve processes used when nodes catch up or exchange network information.

Memory use has also been reduced when one of Canton’s internal contract-checking processes is reinitialized. It is a behind-the-scenes improvement that makes the operation lighter for systems running the software.

The Ledger JSON API specification now includes documentation for the user-paid traffic enforcement endpoints at `/traffic/accounts`. This gives developers and operators a clearer reference when working with traffic accounts through the API.

Version 3.5.16 continues to support Canton protocol versions 34 and 35. Digital Asset’s compatibility notes also identify the Java and PostgreSQL versions used during testing, with PostgreSQL 17.10 listed as the recommended version.

Canton 3.5.16 is now available for operators to review and install. Deployment will follow the schedules chosen for each Canton environment and participant.
