FTP Tech has submitted a new Featured App filing for its x402 payment tools on Canton. An earlier filing for the same application appeared on August 27, followed by the September 4 submission.
x402 allows a website or API to charge for an individual request. If an AI agent asks for paid data or another online service, the provider returns a price. The agent’s wallet signs that exact payment and sends the request again. FTP Tech’s facilitator checks the instruction and relays it to Canton. Once the payment settles, the provider delivers the service.
FTP Tech’s facilitator does not hold the buyer’s funds or sign on the buyer’s behalf. Its x402 service supports Canton Coin and assets such as USDCx. The company also provides a wallet for AI agents and a local connector for AI tools. The wallet keeps its private key on the user’s device. In the connector, the owner can set daily and per-payment limits and restrict which websites and services it may pay.
FTP Tech says the service has operated on Canton MainNet since June 2026 and reports more than 265,000 payments, over 3,000 paying agents and more than 10 merchants. These figures were supplied in the application and have not been independently verified.
The Canton payment method was merged into the x402 specification on August 7. The Canton Foundation later shared a demonstration showing an agent creating a wallet and paying for an x402-enabled service.
FTP Tech states that its smart contracts have not been independently audited. It has reserved part of its Development Fund allocation for an audit if Digital Asset or the Canton Foundation requests one.
When checked on September 5, the application was awaiting review. Featured App status had not been granted, and no MainNet vote had opened.
