Hydra X has launched a new route into the Canton Network for financial institutions and application developers without specialised Daml expertise.
Announced in Singapore on 23 July 2026, the HX Gateway API is a REST API layer designed to shorten the path to production. Hydra X says the product can accelerate go-to-market timelines by up to 80% and reduce deployment time by 50%.
Speed is the central claim. Hydra X is positioning the gateway for tokenised capital markets moving from pilot programmes to production deployments, where quick and reliable integration with shared network infrastructure is becoming a competitive differentiator.
A more direct route into Canton
The HX Gateway API gives institutions a REST-based route into Canton. It is available as a hosted service or as an external deployment for clients with existing validator infrastructure.
That choice matters. By removing the need for specialised Daml expertise at the point of integration, the gateway could make Canton accessible to more institutional development teams. Its two deployment models also allow firms to connect in a way that reflects the infrastructure they already operate.
Mark Tang, Vice President of Client Solutions at Hydra X, said the product was built so banks, asset managers and exchanges would no longer need to treat Canton integration as a specialist engineering project. As he put it: “It is a business decision now.”
Built from production experience
According to the company, the API is based on the same infrastructure it operates in production for regulated clients. Hydra X reports that it has tokenised more than US$100 million in assets for institutional clients across multiple regulatory frameworks on Canton through DA Registry, a secure tokenisation solution with regulatory-grade compliance built by Digital Asset, the creator of the Canton Network.
Hydra X describes itself as a regulated market infrastructure operator for tokenised capital markets, with live deployments across Asia-Pacific and infrastructure spanning tokenisation, distribution, trading, custody and settlement.
That production base gives the launch more substance than a purely conceptual developer tool. Hydra X directly links the API’s design and reported time savings to experience gained from operating on Canton for institutional clients.
The company says that operational experience shaped a product focused on faster launches, a shorter path to production and flexible deployment.
Why the launch is positive for Canton
Lower integration friction is the clearest potential benefit. When institutions can use a REST API without first developing specialised Daml expertise, the route from deciding to build to reaching a live deployment becomes more accessible.
Faster timelines could also strengthen the business case for Canton projects. Hydra X’s figures are company-reported, and the announcement does not include a detailed methodology or customer-by-customer results. Even with that caveat, the scale of the claimed improvement is notable: cutting deployment time in half would materially change the pace of an institutional build.
The deployment options are another practical strength. The product is available as a hosted service, while clients with existing validator infrastructure can deploy it externally. That makes the gateway relevant to institutions approaching Canton with different technical foundations.
Just as important, the emphasis is on production. Hydra X describes tokenised capital markets as moving from pilots to live deployments and argues that fast, reliable integration with shared infrastructure is becoming a competitive differentiator.
For Canton, that is the right problem to solve. The network stands to benefit when access becomes less specialised, deployment becomes faster and institutions can integrate in a way that fits their existing infrastructure. The HX Gateway API addresses each point with tooling grounded in Hydra X’s reported production experience.
Its wider impact will depend on adoption, but the immediate value is clear: Hydra X has introduced a more accessible and potentially much faster route for institutions preparing to build on Canton.
