Canton builders have new ways to investigate transactions, find development tools and get help from the documentation. A Q3 update from the developer-relations team brings together the work delivered in response to feedback from its previous developer survey.
Finding information was one of the main concerns. The official documentation now includes an AI assistant that answers plain-language questions and links back to the relevant pages. The Developer Hub gathers official and community-built resources in one catalogue, with AI search to help builders find tools for the task at hand.
Two Development Fund projects have also delivered milestones aimed at making applications easier to understand. Walnut's transaction inspector, dpm trace, shows the steps within a transaction and can help investigate failed submissions. Certora's daml-analyzer maps how different parts of an application interact, supporting code reviews and security checks.
Application setup is another area of progress. An early version of LYNC's deployment tool is usable, while BootNode's dAppBooster v0.1 provides a local development setup, a starter interface and an example that connects to compatible Canton wallets.
Other funded work remains in progress. Digital Asset is developing an open-source reference wallet that builders can learn from, and Moonsong Labs is working to simplify how projects fetch and manage code dependencies.
The roundup covers both delivered features and continuing projects. A further developer survey is planned to gather feedback on what needs attention next.
