Canborsa has passed $50 million in cumulative perpetual trading volume, Zenith has joined the ERC3643 Association and Canton has confirmed its validator onboarding limits. This edition also covers competition payouts, Loop Wallet’s migration deadline, governance proposals and tools for developers.

Developments since the previous Canton today was published on October 15 at 08:53 UTC, checked through October 16 at 06:35 UTC. The Taipei event announcement is dated October 15 without a publication time.

Markets, standards and wallet access

1. Canborsa passes $50 million in perpetual volume

Canborsa has crossed $50 million in cumulative perpetual trading volume since launch. Perpetuals let traders take a position on an asset’s price without a fixed expiry date.

The exchange supports CC as collateral across its markets. Its separate CC Collateral Competition has now ended, with rewards distributed to the top ten traders. Participants can check their balances in Canborsa.

2. Zenith joins the ERC3643 Association

Zenith has joined the ERC3643 Association, which supports a tokenization standard that lets issuers set rules about who can hold or transfer an asset.

Zenith is building an Ethereum-compatible environment for Canton, with a public EVM testnet already available. The association’s work is relevant to that development: regulated assets need to retain their ownership and transfer rules when used in settlement, lending and trading.

3. Loop’s migration deadline has passed

October 15 was Loop’s announced deadline for migrating to its new wallet to avoid an interruption in access. The migration preserves balances and Canton account identifiers, known as party IDs. Users who had already completed it needed no further action.

The deadline follows the move from Cantonloop to Loop Wallet. Anyone still needing help should use the support contacts in the official notice. Loop warns that it will not send migration links through direct messages or email.

Network capacity and governance

4. A 3,000-validator ceiling is confirmed

An October 15 engineering update confirms a maximum of 3,000 validators. It also records an onboarding limit of 100 nodes per week, which had already been communicated to the Canton Foundation by October 6.

The 3,000 cap limits the total number of validators that can be admitted; the weekly limit controls the pace of onboarding. Neither figure is a count of validators currently operating.

Canton validator onboarding limits: a current total cap of 3,000 validators and up to 100 new validators per week. Neither number is a live validator count. Two different onboarding limits: the current total cap and the weekly rate. The 3,000 ceiling was confirmed on October 15; the 100-per-week limit had already been communicated by October 6. Engineering milestone update.

5. Five applications clear committee review

Canborsa, cSOL from OnRails, CanTra’s art-linked securities platform, Veridic from Infodive Labs and Hellomoon’s aSOL Bridge have received Tokenomics committee approval. The October 15 notice moves them to Super Validator on-chain voting, which is still required to establish Featured App status.

6. Universal Burn is formally submitted as CIP-0129

The Universal Burn proposal has been submitted as CIP-0129. It would bring production activity on dedicated Canton infrastructure into the CC fee-burning and rewards system.

CIP-0129 remains a proposal. Super Validators are being asked to decide on the framework first; detailed pricing rules would follow in a separate proposal.

Governance status: five Featured App applicants have cleared committee review and move to Super Validator on-chain voting. Universal Burn has been submitted as CIP-0129 and remains proposed. The two governance updates are at different stages. Committee approval is not final Featured App activation, and CIP-0129 is not an approved network change. Featured App notice; CIP-0129 submission.

Software and the next events

7. Canton 3.6.2 addresses an operator startup problem

Canton 3.6.2 fixes a slow database query that could stall part of a node’s startup. Super Validators and high-volume validators were the most likely to encounter it. The fix requires no data migration.

Splice 0.9.2 was also released on October 15. Operators should check their network’s upgrade schedule before installing it: a software release does not mean every network has already upgraded.

8. A toolkit helps .NET teams build on Canton 3.6

Peaceful Studio has introduced version 0.7.0 of its Canton .NET SDK, a toolkit for developers using C# and .NET. It helps turn Canton contract models into application code, test the resulting software and submit transactions.

The toolkit targets Canton 3.6; teams still on 3.5 are directed to the earlier 0.6 series. The announcement was published October 15, following the software release on October 14.

9. A Taipei lecture will examine institutional use of Canton

Taiwan’s National Chengchi University will host a free lecture with Teagan Buckley, the Canton Foundation’s head of institutional partnerships for Asia-Pacific, on October 21. The event runs from 10:45 to 13:00 UTC, including check-in and networking, at the university’s Fubon Lecture Hall.

The programme covers tokenization, privacy, settlement and collateral movement, as well as careers in financial technology. It is organised by the university’s FinTech Innovation Lab and the Taiwan Association of Blockchain Ecosystem Innovation. Registration is required, with limited places.
