@The_DTCC has officially launched its Tokenization Service — and @CantonNetwork is one of the two networks live at launch.
The world’s largest securities depository, which custodies roughly $114 trillion in assets, is now enabling the minting of digital representations of Russell 1000 constituents, major index ETFs, and U.S. Treasuries directly on Canton.
These tokens are backed 1:1 by securities held at DTC. They can move 24/7 between registered wallets on the same network, while the underlying assets remain under DTCC’s established custody and regulatory framework.
This is not a pilot or a sandbox exercise. It follows production trades already completed in July and was built with input from more than 150 firms. Canton was selected as the public network option alongside DTCC’s private Besu environment.
For Canton, this is a major institutional validation. A network designed for privacy-preserving, institutional-grade finance is now supporting real tokenized securities from the entity that sits at the center of U.S. capital markets.
As activity and usage on the network grow, $CC remains the native asset that powers the ecosystem. Moments like this are what expand the surface area for real economic activity on Canton.
Institutional infrastructure is moving onchain. Canton is part of the rails.
