Loop wallet security audit series 3

What do banks, airports, and crypto wallets have in common?

Before they improve security, they all ask the same question:

"What would an attacker target first?"

That process is called "Threat Modeling".

One of the first things that caught my attention while reading the independent security audit of @canton_loop, developed by @FiveNorthHQ, was that the auditors didn't begin by searching for bugs.

Instead, they first focused on understanding the system itself.

What needs to be protected?

Who could potentially attack it?

Where are the highest-risk areas?

What happens if those areas are compromised?

Only after answering these questions did they move on to reviewing code, testing defenses, and verifying security controls.

That's what makes Threat Modeling so important.

It gives auditors a roadmap, allowing them to focus on the areas that matter most instead of searching blindly.

The biggest takeaway?

You can't protect what you don't fully understand.

That's why Threat Modeling is one of the first steps in a professional security audit.

Next: Trust Mapping understanding where trust exists and why it matters.
