Do you really think @Cloudflare started with AI agents?
Of course not.
It started with a much simpler problem.
Then, step by step, the infrastructure evolved.
From helping secure the internet to becoming a major internet infrastructure layer, and now helping prepare the internet for AI agents with identities, wallets and payments.
And I think @CanPayAI is going through a similar evolution.
At first, it was simple.
Red packets.
Create one.
Put value inside.
Get a code.
Share it with someone.
That value could be CPAY, CC, cBTC, cETH and other supported assets.
Nothing crazy, right?
But think about what that primitive actually gives you.
A simple way to package value into something that can be transferred through a code.
Now imagine you don't want to do all the repetitive work yourself.
You tell your agent:
"Create a red packet with X amount and prepare it for me."
Your agent handles the task.
Someone sends you a code?
Your agent can handle the next step.
And this is where CanPay's direction starts getting interesting.
The project is moving from humans using payment infrastructure toward agents using that infrastructure on behalf of humans.
Give the agent the instruction.
Set the permissions.
Let it handle the work.
And eventually, those agents don't just interact with humans.
They can interact with other agents.
We've already seen CanPay demonstrate that possibility.
So maybe the bigger story isn't:
"CanPay is building a payment app on Canton."
Maybe it's this:
CanPay started by making it easier for humans to move value.
Now it's building toward a world where humans can tell agents what needs to be done, and the agents handle the transaction.
And underneath it all?
Canton's privacy and settlement infrastructure.
That's an evolution worth watching.
