What exactly is CanPay?
Imagine sending money to someone as easily as sending them a message.
That is the simple idea behind @CanPayAI.
Developed by Foundinals Lab, CanPay started as ConTon BOT before a major upgrade and rebrand in June 2026. Today, it is natively deployed on Canton Network and embedded directly into Telegram.
Instead of making users deal with complicated wallet addresses and blockchain interfaces, CanPay brings payments into a familiar chat environment.
A user can send assets peer to peer, create code based payments, or distribute digital red packets directly through Telegram.
Under the hood, CanPay uses Daml smart contracts to handle the payment logic, while Canton provides the privacy and settlement infrastructure.
Why does that matter?
On a public blockchain, transaction details can be visible to anyone. Canton is designed differently. Payment information is shared only with the parties that need to see it, while transactions can settle atomically.
So CanPay is essentially the user friendly payment layer, while Canton handles the privacy and settlement underneath.
And CanPay is not stopping at human to human payments.
Its developing direction is agentic payments, where software bots or AI agents can execute conditional micro payments on behalf of users or automated workflows.
In simple terms, CanPay is turning blockchain payments into something that can happen inside a conversation, with privacy built underneath.
