Why did loop undergo an independent security audit?

Yesterday, I shared an overview of Loop's independent security audit. Today, let's start with the first question that came to my mind.

Why did @canton_loop undergo an independent security audit?

Loop is already the first native wallet on the Canton Network.

The team built it. They understand how it works.

So why invite an independent security firm to examine it?

Because building a secure wallet and proving it's secure are two different things.

A security audit isn't conducted because a team expects something to be wrong. It's conducted because security should never rely on assumptions. Every system, every security control, and every critical workflow should be independently challenged before users place their trust in it.

That's why @FiveNorthHQ commissioned Verified by Humans to perform an independent assessment of Loop Wallet. The audit reviewed the wallet's frontend, backend, SDK, USDC Bridge, authentication, transaction signing, dApp connectivity, and other critical systems to identify potential weaknesses, validate security assumptions, and verify implemented fixes.

The objective wasn't simply to find bugs. It was to strengthen the wallet, validate its security architecture, and ensure the systems protecting users perform as intended.

The biggest takeaway?

Security isn't something you claim. It's something you continuously test, validate, and improve.

Next: How was the audit actually performed, and why does the methodology matter?
