Cayvox Labs has resubmitted a request for 1.9 million CC to develop Payvol, a project designed to make payment requests easier to share between Canton applications and wallets.
The aim is straightforward: an app should be able to request a payment without building a separate connection for every wallet. A compatible wallet would read the request, show the user what they are being asked to pay and let them authorize the transaction. The businesses involved would then be able to track the result without exposing private transaction details.
Under the proposed design, a request could arrive through a QR code, payment link, invoice or other supported format. Payvol would work alongside existing wallets and payment services, with open-source tools that other Canton teams could adopt.
A self-funded prototype is already available, along with documentation and a public playground. The funding request covers the next stage: preparing the software for production, expanding testing and building tools to match payment requests with completed transactions.
The proposed work spans 23 weeks and three milestones. Part of the final milestone would depend on outside adoption, with 100,000 CC payable for each of up to three independent organizations that integrate Payvol and complete a payment flow on Canton TestNet or MainNet.
The earlier application was automatically closed under a rule requiring a Development Fund champion. That automatic check has since been removed, allowing the updated submission to return for consideration. The current application remains open and is still seeking a champion; the funding has not been approved.
