BitDynamics has secured approval for a 1.2 million Canton Coin grant to improve Splice, the shared software used by Canton’s Super Validators, validators, wallets and applications.

The work addresses everyday tasks behind the network, from monitoring transaction costs to helping new Super Validators join as Canton grows. Contributions will go into Splice itself, making them available through its normal software releases.

One part of the scope gives operators more time to catch unexpected or incorrect grant allocations. It adds a configurable delay before Development Fund reward coupons can be converted into CC.

Another focuses on transaction costs. Tests will track the network resources used by certain transfers and settlements, helping maintainers detect changes when the software is updated. Wallets and apps will also gain a way to buy network traffic through Canton’s standard token-transfer process.

The broader scope includes simpler data-access tools, improvements to Super Validator onboarding and support for burning CC and unused minting allowances.

The approved proposal splits the grant into two 600,000 CC milestones. The first targets delivery two months after approval, with the second targeted four months after the first is complete. Payments depend on Voting Committee acceptance of each milestone.

Some grant-control and transaction-monitoring contributions have already been merged into Splice. The funding covers that completed work alongside the remaining development, testing and documentation.

The same funding announcement approves changes to two other projects. The Daml Code Assistant will reorder part of its delivery plan without changing milestone payments. The open-source reference wallet’s external security audit moves into its final milestone, with four weeks after the audit to address any high or critical findings.
