The Canton Foundation's Technology and Operations Committee approved grants totaling up to 1.61 million Canton Coin for Hacken and BootNode on August 26.
Hacken's 860,000 CC grant will support Extractor's Canton Monitor. The software is designed to alert operators to unusual changes in permissions, keys and activity. It uses only information their nodes are allowed to see and keeps private business data within the organization's own systems.
Half of Hacken's grant funds development. The other half depends on production use and the integration and standards requirements set out in the grant. Hacken has also committed to a dedicated maintainer for at least two years after the public-release milestone is completed.
BootNode's grant provides up to 750,000 CC for dAppBooster, a starter kit for Canton developers. An early version is already available. The funded work covers the development setup, interface components that developers can reuse, and a working example application.
The program also includes two public workshops or hackathon sessions, a tutorial with each release and scheduled support sessions.
BootNode's first milestone is worth 450,000 CC, payable after the committee accepts the work. Delivery is targeted within five weeks of grant approval.
Another 300,000 CC is available for verified production applications built with the kit by teams with no affiliation to BootNode. The grant allocates 150,000 CC for each of up to two qualifying applications. Claims must be made within six months of the first milestone being accepted; unclaimed funding then expires.
Both projects must publish the funded work as open source, with payments tied to the agreed milestones.
