Edel Finance plans to launch Edel Markets, a Canton-based perpetual futures exchange for equities and commodities, in Q3 2026.

The planned exchange expands Edel beyond its tokenized-equity lending business and into derivatives infrastructure for real-world assets. According to Edel’s May 26 announcement, Edel Markets is being designed with an on-chain order book, privacy-preserving execution, and settlement logic for markets where confidentiality and institutional risk controls are important.

Canton was selected for its privacy-focused architecture for regulated financial markets and institutional settlement workflows. Unlike fully public blockchains, Canton is designed so transaction data is only visible to the parties entitled to see it, a feature that may be especially relevant for equity-linked and commodity-linked derivatives.

Perpetual futures allow traders to take long or short exposure to an asset without taking delivery of the underlying asset. Unlike traditional futures, they do not expire. Edel Markets is expected to bring that structure to tokenized real-world asset markets, rather than limiting it to crypto-native assets.

Edel has not yet disclosed specific trading pairs, fee structures, partnerships, or access details. The company said more product information is expected closer to the Q3 launch window.

The launch would add a derivatives layer to Edel’s broader tokenized asset strategy. Edel Lending already focuses on tokenized equities, while Edel Markets is intended to support hedging, leverage, directional exposure, and liquidity around tokenized equity and commodity markets.
