The x402 payment standard is now live on Canton Network through FTP Tech.

The integration lets an HTTP API charge per request using the 402 Payment Required flow, with each payment settling on-ledger in Canton Coin on Canton MainNet.

FTP Tech’s x402 setup is built around three parts: a facilitator that verifies settlement, a client SDK that pays, and middleware that gates the resource server. The facilitator does not hold buyer or seller funds. It verifies the payment against the server’s requirements and reports settlement once the transfer is confirmed.

For AI agents, FTP Tech also provides a Canton Agent Wallet. The wallet gives an agent a self-custody Canton Coin account it controls, allowing it to pay for x402-gated APIs from its own balance. The agent holds its own key, while the facilitator submits the transaction and pays gas without custody of the funds.

FTP Tech says the integration is open source under Apache-2.0 and designed for API providers, AI-agent builders and institutions that need auditable on-ledger settlement.
