BitSafe Launches Decentralization Manager for Canton Network, Backed by $1 Million Foundation Grant

BitSafe has opened the public beta of Decentralization Manager, an open-source framework for building resilient decentralized applications on Canton Network, backed by a Canton Foundation Development Fund grant of more than $1 million, equivalent to 8.5 million CC.

The framework addresses a gap that has existed since Canton's early days. Every team building institutional applications on the network has had to construct threshold custody, governance, and audit infrastructure from scratch. Decentralization Manager makes those components reusable, allowing builders to focus on their application rather than the underlying distributed trust architecture. It has been independently audited by Quantstamp.

The framework ships with pre-built components for token issuance and custody, and supports a range of use cases including Canton-native token launches covering wrapped cryptoassets, stablecoins, and real-world assets, multi-signature custody wallets, tokenized securities under distributed control, and institutional-grade DEXs, lending protocols, and structured products.

CBTC, the first non-native asset on Canton, serves as the first live deployment of Decentralization Manager. With more than 10 million transactions to date, CBTC's node operators already earn a share of Canton fees from on-chain transactions. Decentralization Manager extends that model across the network, giving application builders access to a pool of vetted institutional node operators, while those operators earn fees in return.

Palladium Labs is the first builder announced using the framework, adopting it for multi-party authorization in its Alpend credit protocol. CBTC attestors Nethermind, DSRV, and Finoa Consensus Services have also implemented Decentralization Manager, each citing the straightforward onboarding process and the operational resilience it provides.

"By open-sourcing Decentralization Manager, BitSafe is giving developers the tools to create resilient, privacy-preserving applications that distribute trust across independent operators without compromising the governance and control institutions require," said Viv Diwakar, Head of the Canton Foundation.

The public beta is available on the Canton Foundation's GitHub. An additional grant application is underway.
