Canton’s planned MainNet move to CantonBFT now has an operator timetable explaining when network changes will be restricted and when transactions are expected to pause briefly.
The upgrade concerns the Global Synchronizer, the shared infrastructure used to coordinate transactions across Canton applications. It would move its ordering system to CantonBFT.
The topology freeze is planned to run from Friday, October 9, at 9 a.m. to Saturday, October 10, at 9 a.m. US Eastern time. That is 1 p.m. UTC on both days, or 10 p.m. KST.
A topology freeze restricts changes to the network’s configuration. It is not a 24-hour shutdown: normal Daml transactions are expected to continue throughout that period.
The validator notice describes a transaction pause around 9 a.m. US Eastern on Saturday, lasting a few minutes before activity resumes.
The on-chain scheduling vote remains open. It proposes setting the upgrade schedule on October 9, ahead of the migration itself on October 10. Publishing the operating timetable does not mean the vote has completed or the network has already migrated.
At the October 6 check, the next scheduled upgrade had not been written into the live network rules. Operators should continue following the official notices and on-chain outcome before treating the schedule as finalized.
