FTP Tech has launched a hosted connector for AI assistants, giving ChatGPT, Claude and Perplexity access to Canton MainNet wallets for payments, transfers and token swaps.
The new service connects an assistant to a wallet through a web address, without users running FTP’s software on their own computer. It uses Model Context Protocol, or MCP, a standard that lets AI assistants work with external tools. Users sign in with a passkey.
FTP holds the hosted wallet’s signing key. The arrangement is custodial, unlike its existing local connector, which runs on the user’s machine and keeps the key there. Both options remain available.
An assistant can pay for online services one request at a time through x402, with payments settling on Canton MainNet. The wallet also supports Canton Coin transfers and token swaps through Cantex Connect or Tradecraft.
Hosted spending is limited to 5 CC per payment and 20 CC per day. Users can lower those limits, but the assistant cannot change them. Canton Coin withdrawals can go only to addresses the user has confirmed with a passkey; that restriction does not apply to API payments.
