Rubic has requested 2.7 million Canton Coin to build open-source software that would help wallets and applications find token-swap routes across Canton exchanges. The funding proposal was submitted to the Canton Development Fund on September 25.
The planned software would compare available routes and return a quote with the steps needed to complete the trade. A wallet or application could use those tools inside its own service, rather than building a separate connection to every supported exchange.
Exchange teams would be able to add support for their venues by contributing small integration modules. The first development milestones call for at least two working exchange connections, followed by a demonstration of a complete swap on MainNet.
The project focuses on swaps within Canton. Bridges could use it after bringing assets onto the network, helping users reach the token they want instead of leaving them to arrange a separate trade. Signing and submitting transactions would remain with the wallet or application using the software.
The request allocates 2.5 million CC to development, maintenance and adoption work, plus 200,000 CC for an independent security review. The proposed schedule includes approximately 23 weeks of development and a further 12 months of maintenance.
All grant-funded components would be open source and contain no fee-collection mechanism, although exchange fees would still apply. The application remains open and requires review before funding can be awarded.
