Digital Asset has hired Oberon Knapp as global head of equities, bringing in a capital markets veteran to lead the firm's institutional equity and derivatives market structure strategy and expand its institutional partnerships on Canton Network.

Knapp joins from the Options Clearing Corporation, where he spent four years and served most recently as head of strategy. He initially joined OCC in April 2022 as executive director of participant solutions within the securities lending team, responsible for developing the strategy and vision for OCC's securities lending function.

Before OCC, Knapp spent time at Brown Brothers Harriman as global head of product and investment operations, where he built a modular and interoperable operating environment for asset owners and managers, and led global product and algorithmic trading development for the firm's securities lending franchise. Earlier in his career he served as managing director at eSecLending for six years, leading corporate and product strategy, and held several senior roles over eight years at State Street, including vice president and co-head of the global account management group.

In total, Knapp brings nearly 30 years of capital markets experience to the role. He will be based in New York.

"I've spent 25 years building alongside many of you, working at the edges of capital markets in ways big and small that moved us forward," Knapp said. "The convergence of technology, regulation, and commercial appetite has unlocked a profound opportunity. The next generation of capital markets is waiting for us, and Canton Network is where that is happening."
