Exodus Movement wants people to be able to spend assets on Canton with a prepaid card, swap them for assets on other networks and hold them in an Exodus wallet. In a November 2 application, the company asks Canton to release its Super Validator reward weight in stages as it delivers each service.

Three ways a customer could use Canton

  • Pay by card. Exodus proposes a virtual prepaid card issued with Monavate. The card, provisionally called Cantonaut, would let a customer spend assets held on Canton. Exodus says it could launch before Canton is fully integrated into the Exodus wallet.
  • Swap between networks. XO Swap already supplies swaps to other wallets. Exodus would add Canton settlement to that service. This milestone requires $10 million in cumulative swaps into or out of Canton through XO Swap.
  • Use the Exodus wallet directly. Customers would be able to swap, deposit and receive Canton assets on desktop, mobile and the browser extension. This stage requires $15 million in wallet transfers and a self-custodial card settling on Canton in real time. Self-custody means the user controls the wallet’s keys.

Exodus proposes three milestones. The card and XO Swap would each carry three units of weight, and the wallet and card settlement would carry four.

What Exodus would have to prove

The company is asking for a weight of 10. Weight helps determine a Super Validator’s network rewards. Under this proposal, all ten units would be held back initially. The card and XO Swap could each earn three units within six months of approval. The wallet and card-settlement work could earn the remaining four within twelve months. The teams could work on all three at once.

Each milestone pairs a working product with a public launch. Exodus would submit evidence, and two-thirds of Super Validators would have to assign the relevant weight. Under the terms Exodus put forward, missing a deadline would forfeit that portion. For someone hoping to use the card, the next step is a governance decision. The application does not give customers an opening date.
