Fireblocks Details How Citadel Securities Used Canton Network in DTCC's July 15 Tokenization Event

Fireblocks has detailed how it provided the infrastructure for Citadel Securities to tokenise US Treasuries on Canton Network and post them as collateral to CME during DTCC's July 15 production event, as the DTCC Tokenization Service prepares for its October 2026 commercial launch.

Fireblocks has disclosed the specific role it played in Citadel Securities' participation in DTCC's live tokenization production event on July 15, 2026, providing the infrastructure through which Citadel Securities created a tokenized representation of US Treasuries on Canton Network and posted it to CME as collateral to fund trading activity.

According to Fireblocks, Citadel Securities used the DTCC Tokenization Service to create the tokenized representation on Canton, held the tokenized securities entitlement in its Fireblocks wallet, transferred it to counterparties' DTC-registered wallets including those registered to BNP Paribas and Société Générale, and then posted it to CME as collateral.

"Fireblocks delivered for us. We greatly valued their partnership and dedication in preparing for the tokenization event to make July 15th work smoothly," said Dan Doherty of Citadel Securities.

Fireblocks provided several layers of infrastructure for the transaction. It supplied validator node infrastructure giving Citadel Securities access to Canton Network, the onboarding interface used to add wallet addresses to DTCC's allow list, wallet infrastructure to hold tokenized securities entitlements and initiate or accept transfers, fine-grained governance and policy rules to meet Citadel Securities' internal risk requirements, and daily reporting on balances and activity.

The July 15 event was described by DTCC as the largest tokenization production initiative in breadth of use cases, asset classes, and number of participants. More than 30 firms took part, with transactions spanning collateral pledge, securities lending, US Treasury and repo delivery-versus-payment, equity delivery-versus-payment, equity token transfer, and central counterparty margin workflows. The digital conversions occurred across both LFDT's Besu, DTCC's private network, and Canton as part of a deliberate multi-chain strategy.

Fireblocks enabled custody and native token transfer support for Canton in February 2026 and was already extending its Canton capabilities for the DTC initiative when DTCC opened the programme to participants. Its Canton support includes full-custody wallets backed by in-house validator nodes running in two regions with disaster recovery, CIP-0103 interoperability with standard-compatible wallets and decentralised applications, native Canton Coin transfers via the CIP-056 token standard, USDC on Canton, Daml contract calls for settling delivery-versus-payment trades, pledging collateral, and running repos, and a Bring Your Own Validator option for customers running their own Canton node.

The DTCC Tokenization Service is anticipated to launch commercially in October 2026 as a voluntary service for eligible DTC participants, initially supporting certain US Treasury securities, Russell 1000 Index securities, and ETFs tracking major market indices. Citadel Securities, having participated in the July 15 production event, has partnered with Fireblocks to support its longer-term digital asset ambitions at scale.
