Temple Digital Group has announced the listing of two physically backed commodity tokens issued by Ember Protocol on Canton Network, launching spot markets for eXAU Gold and eXAG Silver.

The listing was announced on July 27. Temple describes it as the first true price-discovery mechanism for commodity markets on Canton. The markets are aimed at funds, trading desks and treasurers seeking privacy and direct ownership of the underlying asset rather than synthetic price exposure.

One Token Represents One Ounce

According to Temple, each eXAU token represents one troy ounce of 99.99% fine LBMA Good Delivery gold. Each eXAG token represents one troy ounce of 99.9% fine LBMA Good Delivery silver.

Temple says the reserves are fully allocated, with no synthetic or unallocated exposure. The metal is held through a bankruptcy-remote structure and kept separate from the operating entities. Token holders maintain a direct interest in the allocated metal.

How the Bullion Is Held

The bullion is held in LBMA-approved professional vaults. According to the announcement, the structure includes a controlled mint and redemption process, along with continuous reconciliation between the token supply and the reserves held in the vaults.

eXAU and eXAG are issued by Ember Protocol. Temple says Ember works with its partners to support issuance, custody, legal structuring and redemption.

Private, Around-the-Clock Markets

Temple says bringing bullion onchain gives market participants private, 24-hour access to commodity markets.

The gold and silver assets can settle alongside other tokenized assets on Canton, including equities and Treasuries. Temple says the markets are intended for institutional participants that want direct exposure to allocated precious metals rather than a synthetic product designed only to follow their prices.

Security and Reserve Transparency

According to Temple, Ember Protocol’s infrastructure has undergone six external codebase audits by OtterSec and Asymptotic. The announcement also says the protocol’s core invariants have been formally verified.

Operational controls include multisignature approvals, 24-hour timelocks on every privileged action, limits on permissioned operators and an independent guardian pause.

Temple says reserves are subject to independent verification, with token supply visible onchain and governance actions subject to independent oversight.

Independent reserve attestations, a proof-of-reserves dashboard and legal opinions are expected to become available in the second half of 2026.

The listing adds physically backed precious metals to the tokenized assets settling on Canton, alongside markets including equities and Treasuries.
