Canton Foundation president Viv Diwakar took the network’s connected-market approach to the Edaily Global STO Summit on October 2, at the Korea Exchange in Seoul.
His presentation focused on how institutions could move collateral and settle transactions around the clock while keeping their own rules for risk, privacy and data protection. Connecting these systems would let assets serve more purposes after issuance.
Diwakar described a settlement process in which an asset and its payment complete together. If either side cannot complete, the entire transaction is cancelled. That removes the risk of one party delivering its part while waiting for the other.
A hypothetical Korean money market fund illustrated the idea. Its owner could use the fund as collateral to obtain dollars on another network, without first redeeming it and moving cash between systems. The example described a possible use, rather than an announced fund or deployment.
The presentation followed Diwakar’s September 30 Korea Blockchain Week keynote, which made the same case for markets that can connect without institutions giving up control of their operations.
