S&P Global Leads $110 Million Series B for Kaiko as Canton Foundation Joins Strategic Working Group

S&P Global has led a strategic investment that expands crypto data provider Kaiko's Series B funding round to $110 million, with the Canton Foundation among the participants joining a new Strategic Industry Working Group focused on data infrastructure for tokenised markets.

BNP Paribas, Bpifrance, Broadridge, Coinbase Ventures, DRW Venture Capital, Nasdaq Ventures, Royal Bank of Canada, Stellar, and Susquehanna Private Equity Investments also participated in the round, alongside existing shareholders Anthemis, Point Nine, and Revaia. Kaiko did not disclose its valuation or the individual contribution of each investor.

The Canton Foundation's participation in the working group connects it directly to infrastructure where Kaiko and S&P have already been active. In April, S&P Dow Jones Indices and Kaiko unveiled plans to tokenise the iBoxx US Treasuries index on Canton Network, designing it to operate through smart contract infrastructure carrying index data, intellectual property rights, licensing conditions, fees, and access controls. The project placed the iBoxx benchmark on the same network where financial institutions have been working with tokenised government securities and institutional settlement infrastructure. Earlier this month, the two companies launched the co-branded S&P Kaiko Digital Asset Indices suite.

Canton's presence in Kaiko's institutional ecosystem extends further. Bitwise's Canton Coin ETP, launched on Deutsche Börse Xetra in May, tracks the Kaiko CANTO Reference Rate LDNLF index and carries an annual expense ratio of 0.85%. Kaiko has also integrated Temple Digital Group's market data into its feeds, covering Level 1 and Level 2 order book data from Canton's leading trading venue.

The fresh capital will be directed toward Kaiko's existing digital asset market data business and its expansion into on-chain capital markets infrastructure. The company currently provides data covering more than 150 exchanges and protocols and has grown through a series of acquisitions including Vinter, Kesitys, Napoleon Index, Cometh, and Amberdata.

"As digital assets accelerate, S&P Global is investing for the future, and this investment underscores that conviction," said Cathy Clay, CEO of S&P Dow Jones Indices.

The expanded Series B builds on the $53 million Kaiko raised in June 2022 and brings a significantly different investor base into the company, one spanning market data, banking, exchanges, and blockchain infrastructure.
