Broadridge’s Distributed Ledger Repo platform settled $7.6 trillion in repo transactions during October, averaging $345 billion a day. The November 6 release gives a fresh measure of activity on the company’s established Canton-based financing service.
The monthly total edged above September, but the daily average fell. Those two measures tell different parts of the story: how much business passed through the platform over a month, and the pace of activity on an average day.

Why the monthly and daily figures differ
The September release recorded $7.5 trillion in total volume and a $359 billion daily average. Using Broadridge’s rounded figures, October’s monthly total was about 1.3% higher, while its daily average was about 3.9% lower.
A monthly total depends on both the amount processed each day and the number of days included. A higher monthly total therefore does not, by itself, mean a faster daily trading pace.
This is a new reporting period after September’s $7.5 trillion result. It measures transaction flow, rather than the value of assets held on Canton at a particular moment.
What does a repo platform do?
A repo, short for repurchase agreement, is a way to borrow cash against securities. One party sells securities and agrees to buy them back later at an agreed price. The securities serve as collateral, giving the cash provider protection if the other party cannot meet its obligation.
Broadridge’s DLR service brings these financing arrangements and collateral movements onto a shared ledger. It also supports intraday repo, where the borrowing takes place within the same day. Broadridge says DLR migrated to Canton in 2023.
From repo to a wider range of assets
Broadridge is using that operating experience in DLX, its broader digital asset platform. DLX extends the company’s services into issuing, trading, settling and servicing tokenized assets across multiple blockchains.
For Canton readers, October’s figures show the scale of one established institutional use case. The comparison is more useful than the headline number alone: monthly settled volume remained above $7 trillion, while average daily activity eased from September.
