Console has launched individual traffic-fee balances for Canton participants. Users can add Canton Coin to cover their own network usage or fund another participant's balance.
Traffic fees cover the data processed through Canton's shared infrastructure and are charged per kilobyte. When multiple participants use the same node, those costs can fall to the operator unless there is a way to charge them separately. Console's new balances let individual participants fund their own usage.
The traffic-balance page lets users connect Console Wallet, view the balance associated with their Canton account and top it up with CC. The launch also supports paying into someone else's balance, allowing one participant to cover another's traffic costs.
Transactions are signed in the wallet extension, and the top-up page does not receive the user's private keys.
New Console accounts currently require an invitation code. Users without one can request access through the wallet or join the website's registration queue.
