The International Securities Lending Association has joined the Canton Foundation as an associate member, bringing the securities finance industry's primary trade body into Canton Network's governance and standards development process.

Through the membership, ISLA will contribute to discussions on the practical applications of distributed ledger technology within securities lending. Adrian Dale, ISLA's Head of Regulation and Market Practice, will join the Canton Foundation's Collateral Subcommittee, which is focused on how collateral can be mobilised across the network. Chris Rayner, Senior Associate for Market Infrastructure and Technology, will participate in the Technology Working Group, concentrating on digital infrastructure and network applications.

ISLA said the move reflects its commitment to engaging with a broad range of market solutions and technologies. "Supporting a competitive and interoperable digital landscape is essential for the future of securities finance," the association said. "We look forward to working with the Canton Foundation, alongside our continued engagement with other platforms across the market ensuring the interests of the securities finance industry are reflected in the development of robust digital market frameworks."

The addition of ISLA gives Canton's governance structure direct input from an organisation that represents lenders, borrowers, and intermediaries across the global securities lending market, a segment where collateral mobilisation and settlement efficiency are central operational concerns.
