Splice 0.8.0 is ready for deployment on MainNet, Canton's production network. By the September 21 notice, two-thirds of Super Validator nodes had upgraded, including the Global Synchronizer Foundation's node.
Splice is the software behind the Global Synchronizer, the shared service that lets Canton applications coordinate transactions while retaining control over their data. Super Validators operate its core infrastructure and vote on network changes.
The release brings changes for the teams running Canton applications as well as those operating the network. Applications using an older transfer method need to move to the supported process. Some apps built on older software packages also need compatibility updates before new network settings take effect. The release notes set out which integrations need attention.
The rollout separates installing the software from enabling certain features. Those features require later Super Validator votes to activate, so teams have both an upgrade stage and a subsequent activation stage to prepare for.
