Canton Network July 2026 Recap
July was busy across Canton Network.
Major financial firms moved beyond early demonstrations into live activity, new investment flowed into Digital Asset and projects across the ecosystem continued to release products and reach new milestones.
The month also brought fresh network data, wider access to Canton Coin in Japan and the announcement of a full-day builder event in London.
Live Market Activity on Canton
Tradeweb opened the month with a real-time transaction involving a tokenised US Treasury. Franklin Templeton transferred the Treasury to Virtu Financial in exchange for USDCx.
Tradeweb provided the platform and pricing, while Canton allowed the Treasury and payment to settle together. Blockdaemon, Digital Asset and Societe Generale also participated in the transaction.
DTCC later confirmed that assets held at The Depository Trust Company had been converted into digital tokens and used in live production trades.
The conversions took place on Canton and Hyperledger Besu as part of DTCC’s multi-network approach. DTCC did not identify which individual trades ran on each network, so Canton’s confirmed role relates specifically to the conversion of the assets.
Temple Digital Group also took part in one of the first US Treasury financing trades completed through DTCC’s Tokenization Service.
A tokenised Treasury was exchanged against USDCx on Canton, with the asset and payment settling at the same time. In simple terms, neither side had to complete its part of the transaction before knowing the other side would do the same.
Nasdaq disclosed that it had successfully tested tokenised money market funds through its Calypso platform on Canton. The funds were moved so they could be used as collateral, meaning assets held to support financial trades.
The trial involved two major asset managers and was described as a proof of concept rather than a full commercial launch.
Temple expanded its markets again later in July by listing Ember Protocol’s gold and silver tokens for spot trading.
Each token represents one troy ounce of allocated physical gold or silver held in professional vaults. This gives eligible traders access to tokens backed by the underlying precious metals rather than products designed only to follow their prices.
New Investment and Institutional Participation
Digital Asset added Shinhan Financial Group and SC Ventures, Standard Chartered’s venture and innovation arm, to its funding round.
The additions brought two more established financial groups into Digital Asset’s investor base and added further backing for the company’s continued expansion around Canton.
Hanwha Investment & Securities separately completed an investment of approximately KRW 30 billion in Digital Asset.
Hanwha said it plans to participate in the Canton ecosystem and work with financial institutions on digital asset infrastructure and services.
Digital Asset / Canton was also listed among 54 firms supporting a UK programme designed to move wholesale-market tokenisation beyond trials and into live markets.
The programme will begin with tokenised repo markets and establish nine working groups covering different areas of financial infrastructure over the next 12 months.
SBI Holdings announced that it had renamed SBI Security Solutions as SBI Digital Practice and reorganised the subsidiary around Canton Network.
The name change took effect on June 22 and was announced in July. SBI Digital Practice will develop financial infrastructure and applications while helping institutions in Japan and overseas implement Canton-based services.
Visa introduced a platform for creating, moving and managing stablecoins.
This was a separate Visa product announcement. Visa’s direct involvement with Canton continued through its Super Validator role, its private stablecoin settlement work with Brale and its move to join Canton Foundation as a General Member.
Canton Network and Canton Foundation also travelled to Tokyo around WebX Asia. Their programme ran from July 13 to July 15 and included discussions on tokenised fixed income and the infrastructure being developed for regulated institutions.
Access to Canton Coin expanded in Japan when OKJ added support for CC on July 15.
The launch covered order-book trading, direct and recurring purchases, deposits and withdrawals. It marked the first time CC had been made available through an order-book market at a registered Japanese crypto exchange.
Network Reports Point to Continued Growth
Palladium Labs published its State of the Canton Network – H1 2026 report in July, providing a snapshot of the ecosystem as of June 30.
The report listed more than 490 registered ecosystem participants, over 655 active validators, more than 45 active Super Validators, 118 Featured Apps and over $9 trillion in monthly network volume.
CantonNews also published a full breakdown of the Palladium Labs report, covering its network figures, application map, institutional developments and Canton Coin data.
Canton Strategic Holdings also released its Q2 2026 Canton Network Ecosystem Report.
It said Canton averaged 2.28 million daily transactions during the quarter, while the number of Featured Apps increased from 47 to 107 and approximately 200 new validators launched.
Canton Strategic noted that it had changed how transactions were counted, meaning direct comparisons with figures from earlier reports should be treated carefully. CantonNews examined those figures and qualifications in its Q2 network report analysis.
Canton also passed 4.3 billion CC burned since the network launched in mid-2024.
CC used to pay network fees is permanently removed from circulation. The total reported in July included fees generated through several types of network activity.
Projects Continue to Ship
Console locked more than 50 million CC across Console Wallet, CC View, CCBridge and CCTag.
The commitments allowed the four products to meet the capital requirements needed to maintain Featured App status under Canton’s updated rules.
Cashen passed 50 onboarded platforms and reported more than 275 million CC locked through deals on its marketplace.
The platform connects CC holders with Super Validators and Featured Apps that need locked CC to meet their participation requirements.
OneSwap launched the second version of its platform with a rebuilt swap system, a built-in wallet and prepaid network fees.
Swaps can now be completed in one transaction rather than through the previous two-step process, making the experience more straightforward for users.
Ekiden was approved as a Canton Featured App.
The project is building a derivatives exchange for institutions, allowing participants to trade through an order book or request prices directly from other market participants.
Premia acquired Raven Market in an all-cash deal.
Raven’s Canton-based trading technology, infrastructure and intellectual property will be integrated into Premia’s wider institutional platform, while Raven will no longer operate as a separate product.
FTP Tech brought x402 payments to Canton. The system allows APIs and other online services to charge users in CC each time a service is accessed.
This creates a payment option for software, data services and automated applications without requiring a traditional subscription or checkout process.
BitSafe opened Decentralization Manager in public beta.
The open-source framework helps Canton projects spread control across several independent operators rather than relying on one party. It is backed by a Canton Foundation Development Fund grant and has been independently audited by Quantstamp.
Arqitech completed live institutional swaps between CC and assets on Bitcoin, Ethereum, Solana and TRON.
The transactions were completed without bridges, wrapped assets or a third party holding custody of the funds. Both sides kept control of their assets until the full exchange was ready to complete.
Cantor8 Announces London Hackathon
July also brought the announcement of the Build on Canton Hackathon, hosted by Cantor8 in London on August 29.
The full-day event will bring together university teams, developers, founders, product builders and people building on Canton for the first time.
Cantor8 is organising the event alongside blockchain communities from the University of Cambridge, the University of Oxford and Imperial College London. Participation is not limited to students.
Looking Ahead
July’s story was not built around one announcement.
Live transactions, institutional investment, network growth, new trading products and developer activity all moved forward during the same month. Some updates focused on the infrastructure used by large financial firms, while others improved how everyday users can access and interact with the ecosystem.
Canton enters August with more products being built, more institutions becoming involved and more live activity taking place across the network.
